What makes you think I hate cats?
Ok well don't get me started. Cats are cranky and onery and they are so blasted independent. They are moody like women.

Yes, fear can easily induce labor. The farther along the pregnancy the easier it is to induce. I hope it's not to premature and that the kittens are okay. But she may just pant when shes scared. So it could be either.

I've met very few ornery, cranky cats. It all depends on if they feel threatened or not. If yours is in a defense mode, it's best to look at what in the environment and handling is pushing her into that.
