I have 2 8-month old female cats. Both shed and they get on my shelves where I have folded clothes.
What's the best way to get the cat hair off clothes? Do I have to have them cleaned? Throw them out? Throw the cats out?

Get real and deal with the problems logically. Plastic bags keep cats off the clothing, as do those sweater boxes.

Get yourself some of that clear, 2"wide packing tape and cut 8" lengths, loop them into a circle and use those to 'brush' cat fur off your clothing. It works the best, better than most cat hair brushes. Even badly slept on items can be cleaned with tape and a run through the wash.

You can also use the deflection technique where you lay an old towel over your stuff and the cats lay on that instead.

Well, you can buy clothes to match your cats. However, if your cats are calicos, good luck.

First, try and have your clothes were they will not lie on them. Perhaps a plastic cover on the shelves over the clothes, as cats often do not like plastic. If a plastic cover doesn't work, then a towel that will catch the shed fur will at least keep the fur off your clothes. Rubbing against you and your clothes while they are on is part and parcel of having a cat.

A lint roller (those rollers with sticky tape) will get most of the cat fur off. And regular brushings and combings of your cats will help reduce the amount of fur that will be shed.

Whatever you don't get rid of your cats! It's not their fault that they shed.Go out and buy a bunch of lint rollers. They really work beautifully. *Hint keep one your car because cats can sense when they shouldn't fur you up, and then do it more then ever.
Plus brush your cat's fur out this will help lower shedding on your cloth es. One final idea is don't fold you clothes or even remove them from the dryer until you are immediately ready to fold and put them away.

I can sympathize: My cats shed too. You'll want to clean your clothes and shelves, and install doors that your kitties can't get through. Right now, they see your clothes as comfy beds.

For getting just a little fur off, I would suggest a lint roller. But for the huge amount of fur you describe, you're better off just plain re-washing things.

Keep the cats. Go to Walmart or similar store and buy a sponge called "OUT" Pet Hair and Lint Remover. Best thing I've ever found for cat hair. Keep your cats brushed and out of your closet. They'll snag your clothing too!
Good luck!

Use a lint roller, the kind that has adhesive to pick up the hair. You should also groom your cats daily and vacuum regularly. Do not throw out your cats! Or your clothes.

Those sticky paper lint rollers are the best for pet fur. Buy your cats a slicker brush & give them a good brushing once per day to minimize the shedding.

Lint and sticky rollers work well - but the cost really adds up!

A pair of washing up gloves - the kind with the textured fingers and palms - works brilliantly... simply put them on and run your hands across the fabric, always in the same direction and the hair will pile up untill it is easy to pick it off by hand, and finish off with a little sticky tape :-)

Happy brushing :-)

Brush your cats on a regular basis to minimize shedding, and invest in a lint brush. Feed your cats a food formulated for healthy coat. Dust often and sweep your floors daily.

Those sticky lint rollers are a cat owners best friend. I have about 10 of them. They are all over the house, and I keep one or two in each of our cars.
