Hi everyone, the reason for my question is because I'm wondering if there's some kind of regulation laws with neighbor's pets. Everytime we go outside to the backyard we can't do anything because the dogs in the surroundings yards will go off barking as much as they can. I'm not talking about just one dog, its at least 3, and it really gets annoying. What i'm trying to say is, is there like a law that prohibits that kind of parade each time we go to our backyard? I don't have a problem with animals, I have a problem with the scandal that's caused.

talk to the dogs owners and see if you can work out the problem between the two of you. if the person is rude and standoffish and the problem isn't resolved, then start calling the police. there are noise ordinances in most communities. you have the right to be able to be in your own back yard without the nuisances of a neighbors dog/dogs. if it is them seeing you that is causing them to bark, look into putting up a privacy fence between the two properties. maybe you and the person with the dogs can split the cost.
for the first person, people have the right to enjoy their time in their back yard without the noise from neighbors. whether it be their dogs or music. if people took the time to train their dogs properly this wouldn't be a problem. in no way should someone have to move because another person cant control their dog. if that's the case why don't all dog owners move to a more dog friendly community instead of to a neighborhood where not all people own dogs. now come on both ideas are just ludicrous.

There are noise ordinances in certain communities, but if the dogs are barking during the day, I don't think there's a whole lot that can be done about it. The ordinances are usually for nuisance barking that disturbs the peace at night. You can call the police and ask if they can write the neighbors a warning, but I'd probably talk to your neighbors first, and ask if there's something they could do about the dogs barking. What types of things are you wanting to do in your back yard that can't be done if dogs are barking? Dogs are going to bark, though. That's just what they do.

Welcome to suburbia!
Screaming kids, loud parties, barking dogs, etc. are just a part of living near other people. It really does make for big headaches sometimes.
You can contact your local animal control and city government to see what the regulations are for your area. You can probably find that information online. If there are laws that regulate this type of nuisance behavior then you can see about getting someone to enforce them.
You can talk to your neighbors about this and see how far you want to take this. Unless it is continuous (absence barking) or late at night you may not be able to do anything about it.
Since they start it when you go into the yard, it really isn't absence barking, as they are barking at you. You may want to go meet the dogs, get to know their names and see what words their owners use to hush them up. You may be able to quiet them just by calling their names and telling them to hush up.
You may also be able to wait them out by being in the backyard frequently enough that they find the whole thing boring instead of exciting enough to bark about. If they are loud enough, maybe their owners will get totally annoyed as well.

Barking dogs generally fall under noise ordinance laws. Every community has different ones. Call your city office to inquire about them and go from there. You may be able to report the barking dogs to the police.
If you feel comfortable doing so you may also want to talk to the neighbors in question. They may not realize its a problem, especially if they aren't home when it occurs.

I don't know about a law, but I believe you can make a complaint with the city. I would talk to your neighbors first.
My aunt's dog was accused of barking all night long, and her neighbor made a complaint. She brought the dog in the house at night, but the barking continued.

Unless the dogs are entering your property or leaving their own then you can't do anything except ask for cooperation from your neighbors.
Edit: Noise pollution regulations only apply to sounds of certain decibels. A dog's bark would not likely be loud enough to qualify but could if it's extremely loud. These regulations usually only apply to certain times and certain days.

Since when does barking equal a scandal? There is no law that protects your ears from being violated by a neighbor's barking dog. If it bugs you that much, move to a less pet friendly community. Obviously, the area where you're living is home to many dog lovers, and the odds of them shutting up their dogs on your account are slim to none.
EDIT: there are noise ordinance laws. You can report your neighbors to the authorities if the disturbance is that great, but that does not mean the dogs will stop. You will likely be able to hear them just as well if the neighbors bring them inside.

Yes, there are noise ordinance laws. First contact the owners and see if that gets them to quiet their dogs down. If that doesn't work, call your local humane society.
