Just once, by a very poorly socialized GSD. She came out from under a bed, and ran down the hallway while my back was turned, and nipped my behind.

There have been several other occassions where I could have very easily been bit, but I've learned to read dogs body language, so I can avoid it.

Nope. I've been around many many different dogs (hundreds at least, probably over a thousand) of all difference breeds and backgrounds and have never been bitten.

I grew up on a farm, and over the course of my childhood, I would estimate we had at least 25-35 different dogs. I was also around the "neighbor's" dogs frequently. (Out in the country, the "neighbors" are at least half a mile away, LOL.)

I was also active in 4-H dog project when I was a kid, so I went to the county fair and state fair dog shows every year to show my dog, and there were many dogs at those events. Also the state 4-H dog conference people brought their dogs.

Now, as an adult, I attend other "dog events" in the community. (Example: http://www.parkvilleshelter.com/PawsInPark/Paws.htm ).

Even though I've been exposed to so many dogs, never once have I been bitten. (A real bite, I don't count things like a dog getting a little mouthy while playing, or a teething puppy, as a "bite". That's just part of being around dogs.)

I have been around hundreds of dogs of all different breeds throughout my entire life, My parents had pit bulls from the time i was little till after i left home, I have never been bitten, and the only dog that ever made an attempt to bite me was a schnauzer mix and he was just evil lol. he never got ahold of me though, i think in general dogs are bred to be with people and wont hurt you unless they have a reason (fear(yours OR theirs), pain, etc)
if you are firm and confident with a dog its not likely to harm you . its just their nature
i did get bit by a (pet) raccoon once..it belonged to my mother in law.. i think she paid it off in cookies lol...actually it was coming to me wanting her daily bite of candy because i always kept some in my pockets for her and the dog spooked her...i've got 4 perfect little teeth mark scars on my wrist...but it wasnt her fault.

Lol yes. We had a min. schnauzer when I was in high school who was terrified of thunderstorms. Mom and were leaving to go shopping and I was supposed to get the dog out from under the bed and put her in the crate. I reached under the bed and the beast chomped down on my hand. I told mom she could get her own dog out if it was that important. :P She decided to leave the dog there.

And for those of you who are going to comment on WHY I reached under there? I knew better than to argue with my mom.

My dog bit me by accident yesterday when she was snapping at another dog. It didn't hurt much at the time but now it hurts to walk because it bruised all around the cuts. Luckily there was enough fat so she didn't get anything important =P

She feels bad about it and licks it when she sees it.

Yes, when I was about 5 years old, I was attacked and mauled by a friends golden retriever. Nothing serious, but enough for me to have a life long hatred of big dogs.

Yes, I was bit by a cocker spaniel... I was only 9 yrs old, and walking to my friends house. They always had two cockers, and one wasn't very nice. But everytime someone came over, they put it in it's kennel so it couldn't hurt anyone. And I went over to bring her to my house and show her my new pup, and they opened the door, and it ran out... knocked me to the ground and bit the skin right above my eye but below my eye brow. So I almost needed stiches, but it was too close to my eye, and they had to glue it. But if it was closer to my eye, I woulda gone blind...
