I am bringing home a jack russell terrier that i adopted from the Animal shelter tomorrow, she's three years old and very timid right now since she was abused.
should i be worried about my bird, guinea pig, reptiles and chinchilla? i know their hunting dogs so im guessing i should just keep them separate right?

My five year old male cat had sx 24 hrs ago to remove crystals from a full bladder. His prognosis was great-no iv's needed and blood work good. Had catheter removed and urinated at vets office a couple times and ate. Took him home last night around seven and cat urinated seven times since eight this morning (good hardy clumps too). It's now almost twelve hours later, and he only urniated once and it wasn't that big (but didn't look like just a little "drip". Gave him his antibotics as well as an anti-inflammatory for his genitals. Vet said it's extremely important to watch the next five days b/c he's prone to block again quickly. Please let me know if he's just sore or if he could be blocking again. His temper seems normal and he's eating his special diet food. However, he hasn't had a bowel movement for a couple days.

I am considering breeding my male yorkie with my cousins female. I am curious as to how this will effect my male yorkie, afterwards. I have heard that it can cause them to have complete personality changes, ect. Is this true? What can happen?

He is a small dog (Min Pin) and I am really worried that he has something serious. I contacted the adoption agency and rather than take him to the vet, they wanted to watch him and see if it got better with medications. A few days before I adopted him, after the initial interview, the representative dropped him off to me at our "puppy date" place (when you adopt a dog you have little meet ups to see if they are the right "fit" for you) and she told me that he had pancreatitus a few days prior. I googled it and I haven't been able to find ANYWHERE that blood in his stool (it wasn't solid people) is a symptom of pancreatitus. Now, he is back at the adpotion place and they still haven't taken him to the vet, but they are telling me his stool solid now and he is eating...but he got bitten by another dog. So, is this really pancreatitus or something else. I just don't want to make a commitment to keep the dog and then something bad happen to him. He was a $150.00 investment.

I've just adopted a beautiful 1-month-old gerbil; he was living with his siblings until a few hours ago, and he's now going home with me.
I'm a biologist and a pet lover, and I've already kept guinea pigs, rats, and hamsters (as well as other creatures) in the past, so I can manage the basics. However, I'd appreciate any gerbil-specific tips you may have.
Thanks in advance :-)

My dog is always scratching, she's made her skin all red and blotchy even to the point of bleeding. I know for sure that she doesn't have fleas because she was just groomed and there was no sign of fleas. The scratching started a couple weeks before the grooming, so it's not that either. She's always scratching or biting herself. What can I do about this?

I am asking because we have 2 acres of land and I want to fence in about 1.5 acres of it. Is that enough land for a big dog to have room to stretch its' legs(as in be able to run around freely)?
what would you call a small yard? medium? average? large?
