A pitbull is a wonderful and loyal breed WHEN in right hands. They make absolutely terrific family pets (even with younger children). My cousin has a pit and a five year old. That kid hangs on that dog, blows bubbles for it to chase, and absolutely adores him. The two get along absolutely great. I worked in a humane society where we would get in several pit bulls almost on a weekly basis. They were one of my favorite breeds there to work with. They have such a wonderful temperament. The only reason they weren't adopted quickly was because of the public perception of a "vicious" breed. True, the breed CAN be dog aggressive, but it is not always the case. They are NOT people aggressive because they were bred NOT to be. Even when they were being bred almost solely for fighting dogs, they still had to be handleable by people. Its a trait that is still prominent in the breed.

YES that is very true. My family and I have a rednosed pitbull and she is the most loveable thing ever. She thinks she is a person and burrows under her blankets at night when it's cold. Our pit has been around my nephew from the day he was born and has never tried to bite or do harm to him. I firmly believe that it is how the owners raise them, as with the majority of any dog. Even the smallest dogs can be nice or extremly mean. Pits, as well as many other dogs, were first breed as fighter dogs. But as the years have gone and people have breed them as pets, some of the aggression has "gone out"- not all though. I have always found a good indicator that if the parents (meaning the dogs parents), are hyper and tend to nip/bite, then the offspring will. Kind like people, children are usually like their parents, and there are some that are complete opposites though. I have seen countless photos on the web and pits in person that are ten times nicer than many labs I've seen. The reason for that is probably because the owners take care in training there dogs correctly. We also had a brindle for a few years and he was the "dopest" dog ever;he didn't hurt a fly. He would stare off in space, lay in the sun and just looked like a dog that really enjoyed life. If you have seen aggressive pits, don't be mean or cruel to the dog- it's the owners fault!!!!!!

pitt bulls make wonderful family pets. I also believe that they have to be in the right hands and trained. they are very loyal and loving pets! I have two mixes myself. I love them to death and have really changed a lot of peoples opinions about pits. I think that they are over breed and that they should be spayed or neutered due to the high amounts that are being euthanized. also the media has really put these dogs down, even though the dog could of been provoked or treated poorly. whats amazing is that i know pits that have had acid thrown on them and lit on fire, yet they still love everyone!!

Well recently i just adopted a white rednose pit bull mix from the shelter and hes adorable and has the sweetest temp. but people always think that hes a bad dog . Its not the dogs its the owners . I wish people would just stop blaming the wrong end of the leash ...Its basically kind of like blaming an innocent person while criminal roams freely into society ...

I have a Pit Bull X and she is a wonderful dog, very intelligent and friendly to people and other animals!
With all the bad media being shoved down peoples throats so often who can blame the general public for being wary of these breeds, they see so much bad and they have no idea about the good.

They are not bad dogs. Any breed of dog can be raised poorly, unfortunately pits just have a bad rep. Maybe the red nose makes them easier to spot as pits?? Either way, anyone who has something against them simply b/c they're pits is ignorant.
Sorry =(

First of all Red Nose Pit is just a color of the pits skin, it is not an accurate way to describe a "kind" of pit.
The general publics take on bully breeds is all ignorance anyway, don't concern yourself on what they think. Your biggest concern is having 4 pits, you need to be aware of their temperment and personalities. There is a great forum that has tons of knowledge for the pit owner, take some time and research the breed.

I THINK THAT PITT BULLS ARE GREAT DOGS MYSELF. I THINK THAT IT IS ALL ON THE OWNER. IF THEY ARE TREATED WELL AND GET THE TRAINING THAT THEY NEED THEN THERE SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM. I DONT THINK THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH OWNING A PITT BULL.
