The other night I was awakened by my dog (a full grown Blue Heeler) barking, I got a flashlight & went out to yell at him to be quiet when I saw what he was barking at - a possum on our porch, my dog kept lunging at the possum & had apparently injured it (it's back legs were broke) I got the dog in the house & scared the animal into "playing possum" & carried it carefully down our yard & threw it over the fence towards the woods. I've checked the dog twice (once after I took care of the possum & later the next day), I don't see any cuts or bite marks on him. could he still have rabies?

he's pretty up to date on his shots & I read rabies are rare in possums.

I am going to get a betta fish soon, like tomorow... I am going to keep it in a Plastic Animal crackers jar... its like 3 gallons and it looks like a normal fish tank with marbles and plants on the bottom , I used to have a betta fish and i kept it with little Feeder Guppies and it got along fine but I know that all fish are driffrent , but theres a lot of room and hiding places i just dont want the new future fish to become lonely .the tank does not have a lid, and my question is i dont have a water conditoner and i need to know if the feeder guppies will die without a oygen tanke my other one did not because the bowl had a MUCH , MUCH surface area the pet store owner is just telling me it doesnt matter the feeder fish are supposed to die anyway and GOOGLE has no answers about feeder guppies and another question...what do ou think is the best kind of food for it all i have is pellets (for the guppies i meab)

My dog is my best friend in the entire world. I tell her everything and she's just perfect in every way and I cant stand going on vacation because I miss her too much. This is her. Her name is madison.

Someone posted about PMU, what they don't realize is those hormones are needed by humans and what are their suggestions for obtaining those instead of making mankind suffer.

Same as artificial hearts, organ implantation and donation, blood transfusions, cancer treatments, brain stem studies, regeneration of nerves, etc

The list is endless, so are you for testing and healing humans?

Or

Are you for non testing and seeing mankind die from things that could of been cured at the expense of animal testing?

My chihuahua went out of heat on 8-22 were we bread her for the first time. We gave her a bath with flea shampoo and then regular shampoo on 8-30. Since then she has been acting strange. Somtimes she pretends to be sick when there is nothing wrong with her for extra attention so its hard to tell if it is real or not. She has been hiding in the closet on clothing and shaking excessivly, she walks slow like its painfull. I lightly pet her back and she yips like it hurts. Her whole body is super tight and she wont relax. She has been falling asleep sitting up more then normal. I had never used any flea shampoo. She has been eating and drinking fine. Today she laid in sun for a long period of time as if soothing. The only other time she has acted like this was when she was constipated but not this long or to this extent. Please, if you have had the same problem and have some advice on if this serious or life threatening please let me know A.S.A.P.

So we just got a new cat and she is three years old, my family and I just love her to pieces but she sheds lot, we brush her twice daily and still there is more fur on us that on her i think, any ideas to help??

My 2 1/2 yr old english bulldog got neutered 5 days ago. Yesterday we went to the vet because his scrotum was swollen, the vet said this is normal, but today it looks even more swollen. Of course it is the weekend, should I be concerned? Help!

My cat (male, about 8 years old) has had watery eyes the past few days. Yesterday, the watery went away, but instead there is a good amount of yellowish green thick stuff coming out. His nose is not wet, and it is warm, and his stomach feels pretty warm too. I'm pretty sure I've heard him sneeze a time or two, and he hasn't been acting right today. He's never been sick the whole time I've had him (which has been all his life).

My question is this: what could it be, and what can I do? I can't get him to the vet until Monday (I do plan on doing so though), but I'm really worried about him. Is there anything I can do to help him in the meantime?

I want to use a water conditioner, so i bought aqua safe water conditioner. I know how much to use, can i pour the amount of drops i need while the fish or frogs are in there? or should i take them out and mix the water really good and wait for it to settle or something?

my PH is about 6.4 right now. i just set the tank up about 28 hours ago, and put my fish in just a few hours ago. is it ok for the PH to not be right at 7? and if not, is there anything that can boost it a bit? or should i let my tank take its course?

Dumping a cat on a country road leaves it susceptible to starvation, being run over, or being attacked by dogs. It also puts a strain on the farmers who live there, as obviously they cannot care for all of the dumped animals.
However, when dumping an animal, it may have a chance to survive as opposed to putting it down, where there is no chance.
Which choice is the better when the cat cannot be kept?
To add, what if the cat is defective, as in reduced intelligence/retardation?

Note: The cat cannot be passed to another owner.

I have taught him to sit on command, but he is so excited at the prospect of getting a treat, he sits and wiggles and scoots his rear end around. I then started attempting to make him lay down with a 1 word "DOWN" and he does go down but the treat is just too much and he is going crazy before he gets down and once he has the treat, its all over and he is full of energy. How long can it take to train this dog, or are some just never trainable? We have been working on this trick for over a month.

The betta is a male and I asked the worker at the pet store which fish are compatible with bettas and they said anything but another betta so I got a black moor and the betta chased him around and bit him and parts of his fins fell off, I seperated them, is there any way they can live together?

they run from him and just sit up in this window ledge we have in our house and watch him. If he comes near they hiss and run. The puppy is really nice around kitties, the lady we got him from had kitties and they got along fine. He is an 8 week old black lab. My question is do you think they will get along eventually, or will my kitties be afraid of our puppy forever?

i had an argument with my dad on the topic of snakes i say that poisonous snakes have triangular shaped heads my dad says they have round heads like red racer (i.e. coachwhip)

I put my crickets for my chameleon in a feeding container. I was wondering if I should put a piece of egg carton in the container.

But what does the carton do? Does it simply provide shelter or is it something like crickets need shade to be healthy?

Is it necessary to put a piece of egg carton in my feeding container? When I do, the crickets are not as readily available for my chameleon.

Any tips?

We just adopted A puppy from a local shelter and she's biting my dog and nipping at me . What is the best thing to do to stop her from biting more. The more I tell her no the more she bites. When that happens I put her in her kennel to calm her down. Is this the right thing to do? I want to stop this fast before it happens again because next time it could be my son. Please Help.

I've heard two completely different sides. It's easier for me to feed my young Ball Python a live mouse. But, I've heard that as they get older they will be more aggressive if you keep feeding them live mice. Is this true?
