It's true, feeding your cat a high quality food can decrease shedding in the long run.
Also, brushing your cat more than once a day can actually increase shedding.
But most important I know people with long-aired cats that swear by the Furminator. It's a de-shedding tool that costs about $35 PetSmart. Sounds expensive but if I had a cat that was shedding all over the place I know I'd try it. This link has a video you can watch to show how it works.

Get her a really good brand of cat food like Iams with Omega 3 oils in it. A kitten formula is very good for this. Brush her fur a few times a day, and in a few weeks, she will have glossy fur.

Its probably just natural.
If youre worried (which is totally natural with a new kitty) then take her to the vet and ask. it never hurts to ask. Maybe you can call the vet. Sometimes at petstores there is shampoo that decreses shedding. But, then again, why would you give a cat a bath??? I dont know, just call your petstore or vet. :)

there are places you can go to have them groomed, but you might consider a change in diet. Science Diet really helps my cats to shed less, or you could also get a second cat to help groom each other. I have 3 cats who get baths at least once a month. it does help, but the food and brushing make the best difference.

what kind of food are you feeding her?? shedding can be reduced by feeding a better quality food...
all foods from grocery stores and Wal Mart is crap.. to much filler like corn and by-products..
go to pet supply store and read the lables look for a Premium level food with NO by-products (beaks feet feathers) and corn should NEVE be in top 3 ingredients...
(Science Diet - as mentioned above - is a crappy food they PAID for vet endorsement.. its not worth the cost you can pay about as much for way better foods)
preferable Human grade meat, Naturally Preserved...
brushing will help also she will shed less when she isnt stressed.. a new home is stress...

Get some laxtone for hair balls. It's full of cod liver oil which is almost pure omega oils. I has at least 2 functions hairball remover and coat repair. I give it to my dogs and they have shiny coats and shed very little. And they are on science diet dog food, which helps too. unlike some ones poor opinion of that brand

If she's new to your home she could be shedding from the stress of a life change.
Give her some time to adjust.
