I LOVE my pug - he is so sweet and loving and great with everyone. Pugs are great companion dogs and they are kinda small so they are easy to take care of and take with you when you go places. I have taken my dog to Walmart and Rite Aid all the pet stores and the workers are like "he is so cute". I would highly recommend getting a pug if you want a little buddy to hang out with.

Some breeds of dogs don't shed but require regular trips to the groomer. I like Bull Terriers too, they are so loyal and energetic :):)
Caution: Not for the fainthearted.

You didn't say what size you want. A good choice on a small dog is a short-hair dachshund. A larger would be a shar pei. It depends on what you want--a lap sitter or one you can get out and run with.

Well, I have a Chichon which is half Bichon Frise and Half Shih Tzu, He Does Have Long Hair But It Doesn't shed often. They are good when they are puppies but can get a bit wild and you need to train them. But either way, if you work hard at taking care of it, it is the perfect dog.

Short hairs are just as much a pain to get out of your carpet-and actually not as easy. Just because a dog has short, coarse hair, doesn't mean it won't shed. There is no such thing as a non-shedding dog. ;o)

I have two miniature schnauzers that are great. They require grooming about every other month but it is easy to learn to do yourself. They also do not shed at all. They are smart and easy to train.Good luck. There are lots of good breeds out there.Just research to find one to fit your lifestyle and energy level.

I have a mix breed, yellow lab/springer spaniel. I couldn't ask for a better dog. Easy to train and he is very alert and very good around kids and other animals. I would go with a lab breed or Golden Retriever.
