I have a betta without a heater. My house is air conditioned, and it's about 73-76 all the time. I'm just wondering if that temperature is ok, or if I need a heater. Thanks!

maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago, one of my black mollies started getting big, so i thought she was pregnant. also, male (or other) fish were constantly swimming right under her. but when i checked on her this week, she was really really BIG and her eyes seemed swollen and cloudy. i assumed she was going to give birth soon, but instead she died about a day after i checked on her and noticed the symptoms. did she have a disease or was she really pregnant?

right now she is eating basic koi pond pellets, but i've always wondered if she can eat things such as dried shrimp. i fear that because she is fresh water, and the shrimp and such are salt water, that there may be a conflict.

she is about 6-7inches

or can i feed her meal worms or crickets?

Okay, so I'm getting a betta fish for my new room (I'll have my own room from now on! :D). It's WAY different from the guppies and goldfishes I raise. It's going to be living in a simple fishbowl that I used to breed my ghost shrimp/guppies in. Any tips on how to make it feel comfortable in it's home? I don't want to hear how I'm a horrible person for making my fish live in bowls without heating pads and etc. For someone like me, I can't afford huge tanks with filters and things like that. It's not that I don't want to hear the truth, I just want tips like what water I should use, what food, what plants it can live with, snails it can live with..

Additionally, the last time I got a betta fish *one year ago*, it was totally inactive. It barely moved, so I took it back to the fish store. Can anyone clear that up for me? That might help score you a few points. :]

someone once told me he craves attention. If I push him down then pet him, he is taking that for more attention, so he keeps jumping on me.

We have two cats.. Killer And Beautiful.. They've always used their litter-boxes properly, and never went on the floor -- until!!!!

Killer was sitting on a pillow, just lying there.. When he got up, the pillow was wet. We saw him the whole time, no water spilled... And we're pretty postotive it was pee - it smelled like it too! Anyway, the litter box was pretty bad, but still useable.. I'm cleaning it out daily now.. but he's usually not picky at ALL.. Could something else be the problem?

After a careful search we located and contacted a german shepherd breeder 3.5 hours away from us.

1. the breeder is akc member and all their dogs are registered
they have been breeding for 6-10 years.
2. The breeder has a webpage, where he posted the pics of all their sires and females and clearly indicated which ones are the puppies' mom and dad
3. they welcomed our visit
4. they charge100$ deposit and total of 500 dollars per pure working line (mix between american and german line).
5. these pups come with 2 year health guarantee by the breeder and the breeder agrees to take his pups back in case we cant keep her/him.
6. the give away the pups at 6 weeks old after they administer their first set of vaccination and deworming.

what do you all think? does it sound like a good breeder?
i guess i am having hard time differentiating a good breeder from a puppy mill or so called backyard breeders. please, any advice on this matter will be highly appreciated.

I have a 5 year old female cat. She is quite independent, not so much a cuddler, but is a very good girl! When I take her to visit my parents, she is the same - quiet, independent and just does her own thing. For the first time, I took her to my fiance's house (brought her food, litter box, toys, all the fixin's). She was sooooo clingy and wouldn't stop meowing the entire night. Neither my fiance nor I got a wink of sleep. She was starving for attention or something, and I don't know why! She never does this at my house and even when my fiance is over my house, she completely ignores him and doesn't make a peep! What on earth was her problem at his house? He doesn't have any other animals and all of her belongings were there with her! The meowing and crying and constant clingyness drove us both insane! I had to leave at 4 a.m. because I couldn't handle another second of her crying! When I brought her home, she pranced in, and went right to sleep! No peep! I don't get it!

those plant bulbs at walmart that you put in your tank and they grow?
my friend has one in a 55 gal and it grew huge and made lily pads in just a few weeks.

i bought some for the lily pads and the other kind they have. if they are the brown hairy bulbs do i put them in the gravel, or just let the fall to the bottom of my tank?

my dog, hannah, is a very very skilled dog. she is very athletic and loves to run. she knows a lot of tricks and i am still working on her training. hannah is a golden lab mix, and she is quite small for her breed, with long legs and a slim body. i am working on getting her to jump over jumps, except she always goes around the jump and not over it. this probaly sounds silly because thats what happens when you start to train them, they just don't go right over the jumps. hannah loves to jump and run so i thought why not teach her some real jumps? so i have a small coarse set up in my back yard that i have been working with her on for about 40 minutes (again, i know it takes time to learn these things, but it seems its not sinking in on her that she should go over the jumps.) i give her treats everytime because i don't want to discourage her, but how do i encourage her when she is doing something wrong? so how do i get her to go over the jumps and not around them??? thanks
