I have a 5 year old female cat. She is quite independent, not so much a cuddler, but is a very good girl! When I take her to visit my parents, she is the same - quiet, independent and just does her own thing. For the first time, I took her to my fiance's house (brought her food, litter box, toys, all the fixin's). She was sooooo clingy and wouldn't stop meowing the entire night. Neither my fiance nor I got a wink of sleep. She was starving for attention or something, and I don't know why! She never does this at my house and even when my fiance is over my house, she completely ignores him and doesn't make a peep! What on earth was her problem at his house? He doesn't have any other animals and all of her belongings were there with her! The meowing and crying and constant clingyness drove us both insane! I had to leave at 4 a.m. because I couldn't handle another second of her crying! When I brought her home, she pranced in, and went right to sleep! No peep! I don't get it!

Hi there...as others have noted before your cat was feeling insecure because she was not in a place which was familiar to her.

Cats by nature are territorial creatures unlike dogs which can go wherever their pack leader is. Whenever a cat is relocated to a new place they feel frightened and uncertain about their surroundings. Her cries were indicative of her fears. Over time when she returns her fears will slowly subside. Her introduction to your fiancé's home will need to be gradual to help her acclimate to the changes. By offering play time and special treats will help speed up the process as well.

The wonderful thing about having a cat is that you can leave her at home when you'll be gone for say, 24 hours. You just leave plenty of food and water and a clean litter box and the cat will be fine.

The cat was in different surroundings at your fiance's house which is something she wasn't used to. Next time, leave her at home. All parties will be glad you did. Make sure you have left enough provisions and everything will be fine.

It would be easy for me to say get a dog, but your cat was out of her territory and the fact that you were sleepin there, she may be worried that it was going to be permanent.

Many animals dont like change, we had a dog that would get upset if you did something that he was used to a different way.

She may no like him. Pay attention to her in reference to this. Animals read people better than we ever will.
