HI,

I just bought a new puppy.she is a pit bull and is 6 weeks old.I know this is young ,but i am such a sucker for abused animals.I think the guys i bought it from, fights his dogs because one of the adult dogs had a big scar on the side of his cheek and there were flies all over it.But thats a whole different story.Well i've just had her since yesterday and she was infested in fleas ,i went and bought some frontline. She seems to be losing most of the fleas.but one thing that concerns me is that she draggs her but on the ground and she cant seem to get comfortable anywhere she sits.IM thinking this is worms.Well i just called the vets office and they told me he wasnt there and wont be back until monday. Will she be okay to wait this long before she goes to the vet or should i go and buy some otc de-wormer from wal-mart or something? I havnt seen anything in her poop either. It looks pretty normal to me.Are OTC de-wormers safe for puppies ?oh and also i live in a small town

would the bass want to kill the aro?

what is the worst that could happen in a situation where i have an arowana and peacock bass in a 250 gallon aquarium?

My new cat was a bit standoffish, nothing like my big old baby that died a while back. It was a little dissapointing to me. I started really laying it on thick with her, uber baby talk, and she totally responds to that, she winks her little eyes at me and meows when I talk to her like that, then the petting festival begins. Now she's as affectionate as my old one was, maybe more so.

I have two dogs that I found on the street when they were two weeks old. They are brother-sister and we believe the female was the runt. They are sweethearts! They are 8 months now, and the female has not had her first cycle but it is coming! Then there can be mating between the two of them, which would obviously not be good! So I must "fix" at least one of them, despite my motherly guilt:)...But I am wondering whether I should spay the female or neuter the male? The male is a more simple procedure, but my female dog´s personality is more sensative and nervous than the male´s so might it affect her in a worse-better way? Also, these dogs have done everything together from day one, so would it affect their relationship or cause confusion if just one had the operation? I have a tight budget (student) so just one operation is better, but if necessary I can manage both. I am just so worried to change them in any way, these are my treasures and I love their personalities..Please Help:)!

I know that's how he plays with us, but I don't know how to stop him. All we do is play with him then if he nips we give him one of his toys to bite instead, right away and say "Don't bite." Other than that is there anything else to do to stop him? After telling him to stop he gets upset and sits alone at the other side of his room. I know he's just a puppy, but we want to start training him as soon as possible.

Now, if you cannot afford to supply your dog, cat, rabbit, ginuea pig, etc, with proper vetrinary care, than you should not have a dog.

Is anyone else just disgusted with these idiots?

I adopted two littermates from the humane society. When I got the little girl and boy home, they were skittish. They shrug away from our hands and hide. I'm worried that having eachother to rely on will keep them from being great lap cats/snugglers/my companions. Is there any tips/experience on this? I've had plenty of kitties, and lots of experience, but never adopted two together...

I have a 2.5 gallon acrylic Hex tank with a male Betta and a mystery snail. The tank has been completely cycled for quite some time now. The tank came as a package (TopFin AquaScene 2) with an undergravel filter. The filter seems to be working ok, but I keep hearing so many negative things about UGF filters. Plus, there seems to be a lot of surfarce agitation from the air pump bubbles and my Betta can't create bubble nests. I would like to replace the UGF with a small 3 gallon in-tank filter that I have in a different 2.5 gallon tank.

Is it ok to change fitler types in a cycled tank? If I do, do I have to re-cycle the tank? Do I need to completely clean out the bottom of the tank, below the UGF plate? Or just remove the plate?...

...objects by directing it to a scratching post with catnip, spraying it with a water bottle, etc. But what about when YOU ARE NOT HOME and the kitten is scratching the furniture? How do you redirect the behavior then? I do not like it, but I will probably get my kitten declawed because I cannot guarantee my fiancé that our new kitten will not scratch the furnative. The argument against that it takes away their nature defenses against predators is void b/c my kitten is an INDOOR one and will NOT go outside.

This is an invitation for suggestions, opinions on the subject. The decision to declaw has not been made lightly, but rather through a lot of research. I would like to have some feedback from both sides. Cat owners who have declawed cats--How is their behavior? Did it change after the surgery? Do you regret getting it done? Those who refuse to declaw -- how do you keep your cat from scratching unwanted objects? Are you at home all the time? What do you do when you are away at work?

I bought a pair of russian dwarf hamsters a few hours ago, named Toffee and Treacle. Their cage as tubes in it, and when I put the hamsters in, I put in some stuff for bedding. But now the hamsters are asleep together in the tubes, and have ignored the bedding. I dont have anything for a bedroom yet for them, is this the problem? Which bedrooms/house would you suggest for them? I need something available in the UK.
