I had this dog for over a year and since the begining he does not act like my past dogs which pees on every tree? This dog i walk him for hours and he pees once sometimes not even once. Im getting very frustrated with him.
I litter box trained him with news papers in it and it was working for a bit now its just gone down hill. If he does urinate he does it right next to the box? What is wrong with this guy he is completely healthy.

I live in a 1500sq ft. condo. My girlfriend and I agreed on a medium sized to a large size dog but couldn't decide on a breed. I love Huskies or Malamutes. We learned today that Malamutes can get really big and heavy. She wants a Golden Retriever which is also okay with me. But our question is...would those types of dogs be okay in the size of place we live in? We are looking for a dog that can be home alone during the day while we are at work, but will get plenty of love and activities when we get home. Suggestions?

I have a Great Dane and I used to have a Rat Terrier but we had to give her to a family friend becuase she didn't like the Great Dane and kept peeing in the house, she was trying to mark her teritory. If I get a little dog when it's a puppy and get it used to the Great Dane would it be okay? The Great Dane is very gentle, but would he squash the dog on accident? I plan on mostly keeping the dog with me, but if I leave it home, like to go to school or tennis, would he hurt her/him while trying to play?

What kind of dog would be best according to what I want:

-I want a really little dog.

-I already feed my Great Dane and take him outside to go to the bathroom everyday, so one more wouldn't be a problem.

-I don't really want a yappy dog, is there any small yet calm/nice dog breed?

-My neighbors had a Shih Tzu. She was the sweetest dog ever and she was really cute when they kept her hair short. She was the nicest dog I ever saw, would a Shih Tzu be a good dog for me?

My brother adopted an iguana about a year and a half ago, and he's passed it on to me since he's going to college. I love the little guy, but I can only talk to him, not hold him or pet him. In the year and a half that my brother had him, he was only taken out of his cage about five times except for cleaning the cage out. I can't touch him because every time I do, he windmills his legs and shreds my arms (about 1/2 inch claws).

He's probably about five years old, and is about four feet long from nose to the tip of his tail. He's very placid; the few occasions where I have gotten him out he's never tried to bite or whip his tail, he just windmills his legs. We've tried clipping his claws, but apparently he has a secret weapon in the form of a poop shooter (yuck!).

Should I take him to the vet for a claw trimming or just continue to talk to him through his cage?

Last summer there was a big fat long garden snake in the yard and my friend saw it after he tore up the yard looking for it but it had went in back of wood pile under shed. My friend assured me it was a garden snake which I've never seen one that big but I am worried if it comes back this summer even since there are woods in back of the house but the house is fenced in. I have two other small dogs but the chihuahua will be very small. Will this garden snake attack it if I don't find it in time? The yard is very big and pretty much clear it has a couple of palm trees surrounded by bushes w/ a pool. I live in Fl. I'm just worried I don't want anything to happen to my chihuahua.

I am looking at getting a Bichon Frise/ whippet mix dog. I have always wanted a purebred Bichon, but I don't have the money to buy any, so I decided to adopt from a wonderful Sheltie breeder who is a family friend.
Anyway, could I enter it in agility competitions in America, even though it isn't a purebred?

Thanks in advanced!

Looking at the Cat section of Yahoo answers I have found a large portion of people who hold the stance that a cat should be confined to the indoors. And not only do they think this, but they berate/belittle people who have indoor/outdoor cats or stricktly outdoor cats. It seems a very "holier than thou" attitude to me and I want to know how many people agree with them (or not) and WHY you agree or disagree.

I am very interested to see what cat owners think and more importantly WHY they think that way

I am trying to identify a dog breed. is there a site which will give me a slideshow of various dog's photos so that i can identify the one i'm interested in? lots of sites show photos if you know the breed, but that's no use in this case. thanks. It has to be photographs, not drawings as on akc.org, because drawings are not realisic enough

My Griffon is a 2 year old, neutered male. He will go several weeks and not mark, then suddenly start marking again. I also have a 10yr old female cocker and a 1/12yr old male Lhaso Apso. The Lhaso does not mark. And the female is older and pretty much leaves the young boys alone. I can't say that any one of them is the dominate dog and the boys are crated while we are gone. The Brussells also humps the female but only when I am letting her outside. He runs to the door and humps her until I pull him off. I've heard that it's a dominance thing. I can't seem to catch him marking put I know it's him because he is the only one that has been in the area. When I got him he was 6 months old and had been in a cage at the pet store for 3 months. He humped EVERYTHING and would cling to me or my husband. I would say he was very insecure and I wonder if him marking has something to do with that. He has gained some confidence and is much less skittish. He's a great little guy but can't stop marking

We recently accepted an adult cat to our home. We keep the cat outside, but give her access to our heated garage. The cat is always on the car, scratching the hood and roof. Is there a way to keep it off the car?
