I am trying to identify a dog breed. is there a site which will give me a slideshow of various dog's photos so that i can identify the one i'm interested in? lots of sites show photos if you know the breed, but that's no use in this case. thanks

Check the AKC website. If you go into breeds, search breeds by name, then go into breeds a-b, or c-g, or h-r, or s-y. When you pull up these sections, it shows you the picture and the name of each type of dog.

akc.org, they have pics of all thier recognised breeds.
