We recently accepted an adult cat to our home. We keep the cat outside, but give her access to our heated garage. The cat is always on the car, scratching the hood and roof. Is there a way to keep it off the car?

I don't need the"you don't love it, give it to a good home" lines. If I didn't care about the cat, I would have resolved this matter by giving it away. This is an outside cat since birth. I live on a farm and the cat probably has more fun around the farm, than living in a stuffy apartment building.

If you have a car that has alarm on it just press the alarm buttin and it will scare the cat. I even spray the cat with water That helps too.

Purchase two cases of canned tuna. Take an ice pick and put one small hole in each can. Take all the cans and place them behind your neighbors fence. The cats will go there every time you let them out of the house. They will not go to your car. Alternative... Trade in your cat for a dog.

i have the same problem. my damn cat will eventually scrach up my cloth convertable top >:( but i still love him dearly anyways!

I think the suggestions with water will work the best. whenever you see your cat on the car just get a water bottle and squirt her with it. or bring out the hose. that would get her attention!

:)

good luck!
and i agree with you. people are stupid for saying that you dont take care of your cat if you leave her outside? havent they ever heard of an outside cat? my cat is an outside/inside cat (inside more since hes very old.16) and i can assure them, hes the happiest cat ive ever seen!

:)

try either a car cover or watch an when she does it spray her with a hose that will get her attention ... you might have to do it several times but it will work........good luck...smile

Edit: outside cats on a farm are fine and she is probably way more happy in her natural surroundings.... dont feel bad... she is probably a Mighty hunter also...smile

You could try to put a cover over your car. The cat will jump onto the cover and still feel the heat of the engine, yet won't put their paw prints all over it.

tie a plastic bag to the windscreen wiper... cats dont like them much.
or put pepper on the bonnet.
else close the door to the garage.

You don't let the cat in your home? Why do you even have a cat. I reccomend giving to someone who will actually love the animal.
