A spray bottle of water, a squirt, followed by a firm NO! It works try it...>^..^< Another ploy is to rub a good amount of catnip on the posts, everday.

That's a tough one they seem to have found a favorite spot or they are scratching over an area where another cat previously scratched. What you could try is rubbing some cat nip on to your scratching posts and cover the area where they are scratching the wall paper so they have no choice but to use the posts. Some cats don't like the posts so you may have to try a different type of scratcher and nail it to the wall where they like to scratch. Good luck

When you see your cats scratching on the wallpaper, gently pick them up and tell them in an excited voice that "we are going to scratch out post!!) Carry them to the s.post and place their paws on post, like in a scratching motion. THEN...promptly give them a yummy snack and praise them for scratching on the post. If you say "good girl/boy for scratching on the post," they will get to know the name of the s.post. This is important b/c then when you see them scratching on the wallpaper you can tell them to scratch their post, encourage them to post, and then reward/praise for scratching at the appropriate spot. PLEASE don't ever consider declawing. It is very cruel and involves amputation of toes from 1st knuckle and up. Most declawed cats will become biters since their primary defensive tool (claws) have been taken away. GOOD LUCK and I'm sure your kitties will gladly scratch their post w/consistent rewards and praise. One last thing! Maybe your s.post is not tall enough for your kitties? They prefer tall posts w/sisal on them.

My dog had a thing for chewing the skirting boards and door frames so i went to the pet shop and they gave me a pepper spray that is for both cats and dogs, you could use normal pepper but if its the wall then i dont imagine you will find a way to stop it from just going all over your floor.
Also there is a product called pet behave that i spray on the roof of my car to stop my next door neighbours cats from scratching it anymore and that seems to work, both are just an aerosol.

Buy some catnip. Cats love the scent of this. Put the catnip somewhere the cat can't do any harm ie: a scratching board. But, make sure you don't spill any where you don't want the cat to go.

DO NOT have their claws removed.Very cruel and painful.Try putting some oil of wintergreen or some other strong smelling scent on the places that you do not want them to scratch. You can also try cat nip spray on their scratching post,to attract them to it.Try putting some type of barrier over the spo twhere they scratch the wall.

My cats did this, I put a scrtching post next to the area that they regually scratched and slowly moved it away. By doing this they focused on the scratching post instead.
It also helps to put catnip leaves on the post!

try spraying them with catnip spray or double sticky tape on the places they scratch might help... good luck...smile
you might also want to invest in a larger scratching post more like a house/pole/etc... one that they can play on and string some toys like balls, mice, etc to it so they enjoy it and spray the post with catnip spray or sprinkle it with catnip....they will hopefully be more attracted to it than the walls...
I would not reccomend declawing, its ltterally cutting off the first digit of what would be a finger on you...quite sad and painful...
good luck smile

Rub some catnip on the cat scratchers and spray your wall with some kind of citrus smelling air freshner. Cats hate the smell of oranges, lemons, etc. If its feasible you can also rub some lemon or orange scented soap or candle on the wall (that is of course that you can see it and it doesn't ruin your wallpaper)
