Last summer there was a big fat long garden snake in the yard and my friend saw it after he tore up the yard looking for it but it had went in back of wood pile under shed. My friend assured me it was a garden snake which I've never seen one that big but I am worried if it comes back this summer even since there are woods in back of the house but the house is fenced in. I have two other small dogs but the chihuahua will be very small. Will this garden snake attack it if I don't find it in time? The yard is very big and pretty much clear it has a couple of palm trees surrounded by bushes w/ a pool. I live in Fl. I'm just worried I don't want anything to happen to my chihuahua.

There are no alligators where I live but could possibly be other snakes and of course the chihuahua will live inside but when I let her out to use the bathroom she'll be with other dogs but am still worried. I'm going to try to keep my eye on her as much as possible but anything can happen in a split second if I had to run in the house for something.

Just because you only saw a garden snake doesn't mean there are not other snakes around. I don't know what all kinds of snakes are native to Florida, but there could be poisonous snakes there too. Chihuahuas should not live outside. Keep it in the house unless you are out there with it. Too many things can happen to a tiny chihuahua if left outside unsupervised. If you want an outside dog, get a bigger one. Yeah, like Tessa sais there are alligators in Florida. Not sure how close you are to the water.

I don't htink a garden snake will "attack" anything. Mostly snakes won't bother us if we don't bother them.
I have small dogs but never allow them outside unless I am with them. Maybe this is something you could do and still have your Chihuahua.

The garden snake won't hurt it, but you should watch out for alligators. They attack little dogs. Don't let the dog(s) out unless you're with them watching.
