I rescued a doxie mix a couple weeks ago that i think may have been beat! She was going to be put down! A lot of times i raise my hand to pet her head and she flinches! She is SO agressive with every stranger and other animals but she always has her tail between her legs! I want to be able to take her for walks and to the dog park etc. I want her to be part of the family but i dont know how to break this behavior! I don't want to give her up because shes so sweet with me and my husband! And i would hate to see her be put down! Please help with any suggestions other than getting rid of her!

My 13 year old yorkie has always had senstive skin, in fact she is allergic to fleas and breaks out in a bad rash. Now as she is getting older I am noticing her skin is dry and flaky. I am postive that she doesn't have fleas and she is clean, but she frequently scratches her back on the carpet. It looks adorable, but I'm sure she's uncomfortable.

Any suggestions on shampoos (store bought or homemade) or other products that can help her?

I have a little Jack Russel. I know it sounds odd, but I was wondering if i can use a little nailpolish for her nails. I do not want to do it if it causes the dog distress or if it may harm her. She is a very calm dogs and loved being pampered...even letting me brush her teeth when i bath her. I was thinking that maybe i could paint one paw at a time and wait for it to completely dry before painting other paws, so she has not chance of licking wet nail polish. Does anyone know if a little dry nail polish is toxic?? Thanks,

In parts of Europe and Asia, eating the monkey's brain out of his opened skull is suppose to arouse sex drive. Is this something we should be doing to an animal which shares so much of our DNA?

Saw a documentary where Chinese were eating cat. Thoughts?
Is this the new "other white meat?" Would it be considered wrong to export animals from the SPCA as a food source especially since we have an overabundance of unwanted pets, especially large dogs? Might this help our trade deficit with China/Asia?

Thinking about my cat who died last week, I remember not long after I got him he came home smelling of fox poo! So I just popped him in the bath and proceeded to give him a shower..couldnt understand why he was howling and growling and not at all happy...he usually loved a shower....OOOPPPPSSS!!! It was Meow my last cat who loved the shower!! Wrong cat! In all fairness, he never minded them, either after that!
Now before I get reported I will make this a question...does your cat like a bath/shower?

My python is about 9-10 months old and 3 feet long. Just recently a larger- small rat attacked him after he went for the rat. the rat kept biting his back. luckily my snake knows the top of the box is always open, so he shot straight up out the box once the rat was attacking him. nearly 4 weeks have gone by since then, and he will not even eat a small mouse. not only, but tonight he shed, and from the looks of the scars now on his back, some spots are red and missing scales. i was told that these would heal after he shed. but that seems to be false. is there anything i can do to aid him so he heals? or are these scars now permanant ?

my 4 month old boston terrier i think has a cold or something. he was shivering for like 30 minutes until i covered him in 2 blankets on my bed, and he has a runny nose. he hasnt ate since morning and has been just sleeping. last night he spilled water from a cup on himself while i was sleeping somehow, i woke up at night he was curled up wet sleeping with the fan blowing on him... i dont know if that has anything to do with it. but he was fine until just tonight, 24 hours later. should i take him to a vet right away or wait a day or two. money is tight and vets tend to be costly

I just came in from walking the dog. My fleece gloves didn't keep my fingers warm. Does that mean I'll require the same gloves a skier would wear? Where can I get the best price on the right gloves?

I have a male and a female (I had the male about a month before I adopted the female). I've noticed that every time I pour them a fresh bowl of food, the male chows down while the female sits idly by and waits for him to finish before taking her share. I feel like giving her an ERA speech, but I think it's useless. Anyone else have similar stories about kitty dominance?

9 years ago my doctor said I could never have children. So, I figured, since I couldn't make my own babies, I'd raise a dog. Since the day I brought her home, I've treated her like a child. In my eyes, she IS my child. Everyone I know says I'm nuts. What do you think?

as we are dedicated persons for welfare of stray animals in india. We do all types of treatments after training from doctors.I have seen many times some persons throw patrol dieasel and old black used mobile oil on wounds of animals having maggots in them.My experience is that it will kill maggots but it will also produce bad affect on wound.we clean these types of wounds with bitadine and use creams in them.after patrol in wounds process of cure becomes slow.ppl say just pour the medicated spray and maggots will kill in wounds.but we take out every maggot from wound with plukkers whether it takes 5 hour.we think if maggot got killed in wound then it can still infect the wound.so we take it out.we use some phenyl to take out maggots .What do u think? The cases are on our web site www.sickanimals.teach-nology.com

Im going to get my dogs nutored and spayed (i have a male and female dog) when i lived at my parents house we made a shirt that covers the stitches on our dog when she got fixed so when she was in the house she diddnt have to have the cone on and still wouldnt lick her stitches. well imma do that with my dog now, but when i put them outside for when i go to work i will put the cone on her head so if she has to potty she wont potty on the shirt. well since i have 2 dogs will the other one try to lick her stitches and try to rip em out? they dont stay outside for TOO long jus till my husband comes home lik 1-2 hours, but thats still long enough for him to lick her stitches. is there a way i can keep him from doing that? without haveing to keep one of them in the house? because there not completly house broken yet.
