Thinking about my cat who died last week, I remember not long after I got him he came home smelling of fox poo! So I just popped him in the bath and proceeded to give him a shower..couldnt understand why he was howling and growling and not at all happy...he usually loved a shower....OOOPPPPSSS!!! It was Meow my last cat who loved the shower!! Wrong cat! In all fairness, he never minded them, either after that!
Now before I get reported I will make this a question...does your cat like a bath/shower?

It wasn't a weekly thing! Meow and Baggy had about 5 showers each over 11 years!
and only because they both liked rolling in fox poo!

One of our old cats was given a bath every sunday night and had his teeth brushed at the same time. We did this from being a kitten and he loved it. Even more he loved being wrapped in a towel and dried in front of the fire. On the other hand I wouldnt dream of bathing the cat I have now, or in fact any of the other cats I've had - she'd rip me to pieces I think.
Definately depends on the cat.

I have 3 cats. All together I've had 9 all together. None of they have ever like a bath. I normally get a bath too. All my cats except one hated water. Star my 9 year old cat is scared of water. She feel in the tube when I was taking a shower. She never got over the fact of falling into the shower to the water. (Pore kitty) They normally want to kill me when it comes to bath time. Not many cats are good when it comes to a bath. So its normal to have a cat hiss. Your lucky to have had a cat that does it makes bath time easier.

To most show people giving a cat a bath is not an option it is a necessity especially with longer coated breeds. I breed and show both short and longhair american curls and I start bathing mine when they are 6 weeks old to get them used to the process. I can't say that any of them really LIKE getting a bath but they do cooperate with me.

I only show occasionally....approximately once a month so they do not get bathed every week like some cats do and then my cats that are not showing only get bathed once ever 2-3 months but they all let me do it no problems...well that is except one who was not my breeding and did not have her first bath until she was well over 6 months old.

My cat hates showers but likes sitting in the rain!!!

I have been clawed a few times whilst giving her a shower and she wont approach me for a while after but then shes ok. My cat doesnt get bathed that often but when she does it can be quite hard work.

I heard that shower or taking a bath by a cat is not very good solution for this animal because it breaths through skin largely so this way we limit breathing. My cat hates it although I was tried to make her bath in various situations, for example in a situation like yours to clean the cat off poo or pee an also when it was very very hot at home in summer (33 C).

Ordinarily cats don't like bathing. But sometimes there are cats and this is very rare, who can be bath, not necessarily they like bathing but because the owner wanted to bath them. They can be bath esp. if they are so dirty and wants to sleep with you. But you have to dry them up by wiping until almost dry; they hate being blow dried. So probably put them in a cage in front of a heater, not too near to it as they will get burn (say about 60 cm away) and comb their hair while drying.

I used to bathe my cats once every two or three months until the vet told me not to do that and just to bathe them when they are sooo dirty they need help cleaning up.

My cats have never liked the shower-but they did not react violently to it. Some growling yes-scratching or anything physical-no.

My mum washes her cat with a wet sponge sometimes. She'd never put her in a bath/shower!
