My dog (12 yo lab/samoyed) has obtained a rash on her rear underside about a 2 months ago. It has since become raw, scabbed, raw again and appearing as thick scabs around ears, mouth and underneath front legs (in armpit area.) She has been on strong antibiotics for the 3rd time now (baytril and cephalexin), gets a bath with medicated shampoo, has had urine tests and blood work done (tests negative cancer, worms, tick fever) and still the bloodwork comes up as no results from the vets. Any insights to what this may be?

My dog has absolutely terrble gas. She's never had anything like it before. I think she may also have an upset tummy. Is there anything I can give her? Tums or something? By the way the pups are 3 1/2 weeks old and have been feeding them puppy food mixed with a formula recipe I got from the vet. I have been giving her the leftovers, which usually doesn't amount to much with 10 pups to feed!!!LOL Could this be the culprit?

Have just bought a second hand fish tank - I will be cleaning it with vinegar and then letting the filter run through it for a couple of weeks. Should I then add plants and let them settle in before I start adding fish or do the plants need the fish to thrive

Do you think this is a good idea?
If not, why?
If yes, do you think I should get a yorkie that is a puppy or an adult?

Any help with my over protectiveness for my kitty will help - especially personal experience. Found out my cat is pregnant about 2wks ago - currently she is probably about 7wks pregnant.
(Dont know for sure nor can the vet tell me)
At what point can I feel the kittens move in her belly??
Where can I place my hands to feel?? I have tried but don't feel any movement nor little bodies - HELP!

I have 3 cats that are all vaccinated and the cat doesn't seem to bother them too much. It has been hanging around for a year now and I leave food out for him but he won't come within 50 feet of me! I'm just concerned 'cause they're predicting horrible snowstorms and hoping he'll make it another winter. I don't want to call animal control 'cause I know he'll never be adopted out 'cause he is so wild and will be put down. And since our cats are vaccinated and de-wormed, I don't see the problem with him hanging out. I think other neighbors leave food out, too.

Can a fish drown?

I find the history of the domestication of pets fascinating. I'm very interested to find myself part of it.

We have a sweet pair of opposite-sex cats. They're both extremely nice to look at*, have good personalities, etc. They eat only the best cat foods and treats we can find, see the vet regularly, live indoors but get exercised and played with; they have a great life for a pair of house cats.

The female was spayed recently, and the guy goes in to get his "niblets" (vet's term) off in a week.

Which makes me think about how many sick, ill-treated, un-socialised cats are out there reproducing, and how much of the cat population comes from a bad home, or no home.

Yes, breeders, etc etc, but: those are all purebreds, and there're a number who're worried about appearance over health and personality.

No wonder, I thought, that cats revert to being feral so easily. All the best cats are 'fixed'!

It makes for an odd thing in the history of domesticating them.

Thoughts?

My 5 month old Pemboke Corgi loves to chew on his pee pads.
I cannot make him stop; I've put the bitter spray on the edges, scolded him, and used the old spray bottle trick.

I've even bought a pad holder, but he can still rip it out!

Any suggestions?

Oh, and if you want, heres a photo of him :D

On average how many times should an adult toy breed be taken outside to eliminate. I'm thinking about eventually getting a smaller dog. I have a golden retriever and take her out 3-4 time a day, could i put a smaller dog on this schedual. Also, i understand that toy breeds are hard to potty train, but eventually can you do it without any accidents.

I've had my cat for about a year and a half now. I am a member of the shelter where I adopted here, yet they haven't sent me anything about my cat needing shots. Anyway, is it recommended, or required, that I take my cat to see a vet every year for a shot?

By the way ...She's an indoor cat, and never exposed to other cats.

I have a 9 year old male cat. He is not nice most of the time, not a lap cat and likes to be by himself alot. He only wants you to pet him when he comes to you and only for a short time. He was not always like this, but when I got him back from the vet from being fixed and declawed...(which I will never do to another cat)...he was a nightmare! Any reasons why he came back to me like that and is getting another kitty out of the question...if not would male or female be better?
