Do you think this is a good idea?
If not, why?
If yes, do you think I should get a yorkie that is a puppy or an adult?

I should of mentioned that he is very good with small dogs. He has a few doggie friends that are very small and he does not hurt them or anything.

I think it's a good idea. We had a Shepherd, Rotti, Pomeranian & Hymalayan cat and they loved each other.

The Pom was 7 yrs old when the Shep came into the house, the Shep was 3 when the cat came in and the cat was 1yr when the Rotti came. The only problem was the Pom accepting the Shepherd, the Shep and the cat were inseperable to the point that the Shep died less than 4 months after the cat did.

The german shepherd who lives across the road has a cat and a chihuahua and it gets along with them just fine. The small dog is the boss and the cat will swat the shepherd if he gets too rowdy.

My doodle's best friend is our cat and the tiny jack russell terrier next door.

If your shepherd is well socialized, there shouldn't be a problem if you bring a pup into the mix. :) good luck

I have a friend who has a german shpherd and 3 chihuahuas and they all get along beautifully. Big dogs and little dogs can get along well. Oh and get a pup, because if you get an adult that has never been around large dogs, they will react differently to the larger one.

i don't think that it is a good idea to get a Yorkie, when you have a German Shepard...why i don't think that it is a good idea is because German Shepard's get big and Yorke's are small...wouldn't want the Yorkie to get hurt...( stepped on )..I would recommend getting a medium sized or a same sized dog as the German Shepard..i hope that this helps
