They all will eventually be in the lead position. The first one flies the lead until he gets tired then he drops behind and another takes over the lead. They do this because the leader breaks the air for the followers and makes flying easier for them. Obviously, the leader puts out much more effort then any of the others. Not too shabby for just birds, is it?

The strongest and oldest one will take the front. Hes the leader. When he gets tired the next strongest will take the lead and so on.

They rotate, cause the guy up in front is working harder and gets tired.
