I own 37 sweetheart cockatiels all shapes, colors, ages. take care to not start something if you don't want to do it forever. Birds being creatures of habit will expect the same thing all the time. FOOD IS VITAL I'm set on feeding one teaspoon of bird seed at the bottom of a comglomeration of "pellets" I had one that lived for 18 years and I had her donated to me so I know nothing of her first 15 months. Cockatiels are excellent birds when they are raised appropriately and most important thing is FOOD. along with the dry stuff I give a little bit of cooked noodles and a couple times a week is something fresh and green (broccoli, kale) also a tiny square of tofu, thin slice of baby carrot, 1 kernal of fresh corn from the cob, I could go on and on. My guys get fresh dishes every day plus fresh water that I pour into their dishes overnight and add ice to in the morning. My guys get at least ten hours of light; the couples into nesting have full spectrum lights above their cages.

I own 3 cockatiels, or should I say that 3 cockatiels own me..lol
Sniffles is my 3 year old male, and he loves me and my guinea pig.
Louise was a bird that I borrowed, but refuse to return because of the conditions that she was in before I got her.
Keeley is my youngest. She was a hand fed baby that did not get very good care. She took one look at me, her eyes lit up, her crest raised up fully and she ran to me. She is now just over 2 years old, and she is a wonderful bird. All three look forward to giving kisses, and Louise will give ANYBODY kisses that'll take them. (You'd never know that she'd been neglected and abused by her former owner).

I've got one...his name is Mr. T. mostly because of the mo-hawk. Someone brought him back to the petstore I worked at a long time ago and kept going on and on about how annoying he was so I told the lady I'd take him home with me since I have about 20 birds. He's probably the best behaved bird we have...

Yeah, well I did. And to think, I bought it for the cute little chirp it made, I used to think. But that noise! It never stopped! It was like it had a watch built into it or something. I couldn't sleep.
Then, one night I couldn't take it anymore. I screamed, "one more noise, and I'm making toothpaste out of you!"
Silence. I thought it understood. I was just getting to sleep, when suddenly, "CU CU KI LA LOOOOOOO!"
That's when I grabbed the hammer. Whew! What a relief!

We have several cockatiels and they are all pretty good. Very different personalities and behaviors, but all fun. Are you looking to get one or do you have some of your own?
If you are looking to get one please consider adopting one from an area rescue they need homes before you look at one from a breeder or pet store.
