Someone told me that tobacco will get rid of worms in dogs, so if you smoke around your dog, they will be less likely to get worms. Is this true?

I have had this cat since she was born and have a very close connection with her (I had to bottle feed her and I carried her around in my shirt pocket when she was a kitten). Her father was a licker and now she is too. She will just sit and lick you until it hurts and wont stop. I almost cant even pet her anymore because as soon as I try to show her affection, she starts to lick me.

I would like to make my own natual mixture. Also does anyone know what is a good product or mixture to use on lawns to get rid of flees. We seem to have a infestation outside and with the weather getting hotter there getting out of control.

today I decided to take a stray cat in- I think she is pregnant and she might have been someone's cat ( she's very friendly and smart.) but she looks like she's lived on her own for a while. she's dirty and she has scabbed up wounds.

I'm saving $ to take her to the vet- but for right now I have Lots of questions.
I've never had my own cat- my roomate had one, so i know a bit..
can you tell me why she does these things.

-While I am petting her she climbs up my sholder and rubs the side of her face on mine ( while purring.)
- she lays right next to me and puurs / meows and when I stop petting her
- when I get up , even to go to the bathroom she follows me and waits at the door. If I am up too long she meows.
- She is always looking at me, even if i haven't moved.

- I bought 2 bowls, wet and dry food, cat box and crystal litter, i put her in the box once, and fed her once- will she remember when everything is?
-I put a blanket down- is that okay for now?
Thank you!

Are over the counter dewormers effective or is it best to get treatment by a vet? If over the counter is effective and does the job, I'll go and pick it up tomorrow - but if they don't work, I'd just as soon take her to the vet and get her taken care of there and save the money on the over the counter treatment. But if they are effective , does anyone know the best brand to purchase? I've already looked online and they seem to base the dosage by weight of the puppy - and most of them start at dosage for a 10 lb dog, and our puppy is only about 2 1/2 or 3 lbs. Any experience with over-the-counter de-wormers would help! Thanks!

Earlier today, my dog started choking on something, and I rubbed his throat to help. All of a sudden, he started eating hay off of the floor (I have guinea pigs,) then when all of the hay was gone, he started barking; he wanted to go outside. When I put him out, he started eating grass. After a while, he threw up, and it was like the hay and grass was a covering to the puke. I had to clean it up, and I had found burrs, which had more than likely got caught in his throat. Anyway, how did he know that the hay and grass would help him get rid of the burrs in his throat? Is this an instinct?

My little Yorkie is Pregnant. I don't know much about dog breeding. I do know that she cuts the little's ones umbilical cord. Is there anything that I should be aware of and what I should do to help her with the delivery. How long is she going to be pregnant for?

He is all up to date on his shots. But last night I noticed when I brought him in from going potty his hair underneath his mouth was wet. I didnt think much of it since when he drinks from his water bowl he tends to get wet. I dried off his face and put him to bed in his cage and when I got him out about 3 hours later to take him out again I noticed that he was soaked again from under his mouth and side of his face. I know he did not pee in the cage. What could this possibly be? He has never had this before.

a feral companion.

I found him meowing at my window, but when I opened the door to try to take him in, he ran away with the other cat.

Should I just leave him be? I miss him so much.

Within 24 hours, I've posted TWO questions regarding my worries about the recent AGRESSION between my 2 neutered female pit bulls.

While most responses have been informative & helpful, I've gotten some that have suggested that I LET my pit bulls "fight it out", even to the point of charging admission in order to profit from their fighting to the death.

I am REALLY sorry, but, I fail to see how ANYONE could possibly suggest these types of remedies.

What is WRONG with people??? Dogs are man's "best friend",& , in my experience, pit bulls are wonderful, loyal, friendly and devoted pets. Great with kids!

Unfortunately, they DO seem to have problems with other dogs.

I'd LOVE to hear from some real dog-lovers - especially those who've found that pit bulls are WONDERFUL pets. Mostly, they seem to LOVE people. Their interactions with other dogs, however, MAY sometimes be difficult. I hope to hear from those who have REAL LIFE experience with pit bulls.

i'm just moved to a new house with land and i'm soon moving my horse there too. i don't want her to be alone when i'm not there and i read about the horse buddy system. does anybody know where i can a good, trained horse(western) that's cheap to put in the pasture with my 5-year old quarter horse. it has to be close to memphis, tennessee(no more than 2 hours away) or somewhere that can give me pictures and acurate information about a horse. i need a warmblood horse that works well with kids and is easy on trails and roads. i will also need the horse to do western competition(i don't know what kind yet)--thanks
