If this is really happening now, you'd better put her in her crate with a towel and take her to an emergency vet.

How many days has it been since the last breeding? Is she actively contracting? Usually if they are, you can see them bearing down, as if trying to urinate, or if they are laying down, their sides will contract.

Did you read up on signs of labor in dogs? Don't panic. Dogs do this all the time, without any help from people. The most important things to remember are not to stress her by trying to keep her confined to an area that she doesn't want to be in, having a bunch of people around, or being really clingy to her.

I would contact an emergency vet clinic if any of the following occur:
a) the dog appears to be having active contractions for more than 30 minutes without producing a puppy
b) the dog goes more than 3 hours between puppies
c) you see any part of a puppy stuck in the vulvar area and the dog is unable to deliver it by herself.

Otherwise, calm down, and allow her to find her own comfy spot. Not all dogs have trouble with labor. But be prepared and know what to be concerned about. You may even want to get the number of an emergency clinic, while you are waiting, just in case.

The following website seems pretty clear on what to expect.

Oh, and as much as I usually agree with people who recommend to take the dog to the vet, this time, I would wait and see if there is a problem. Taking a whelping mom and newborn pups to the vet is exposing them to a ton of disease conditions that they may not be equipped to fight off. It is better to keep her at home, and consult with a vet over the phone first, before taking her in.

Good luck, and I hope all goes well.

About a week before delivery the female strarts producing a clear sticky fluid. It is basically lubing everything for those pups to slide right out.
When she is in labor she will act different. They seem uncfom-
fortable, they try to nest as well.
Just before delivering put your in birhting box /area. She may vomit, some do it just once, others 10 mintutes Just keep calm and keep your dog calm. Make sure you have all your supplies handy for when the time is closer/ Just keep her wiht you so you can watch her behavior.

I would agree with the woman who said to put the dog in a crate with a towel and take her to the vet's.

Definately. If you think she is going into labor, then it is better to be safe than sorry, so take her to the vet's.
