I just got an adorable pitt Bull puppy and my kids adore him. i just found out that if you have a pitt bull you cant have fire insurance. I really dont want to get rid of him, but i have already had a house fire and i dont want to have one that isnt insured. So, i want to know if you would keep him and hope for the best, or if you would get rid of him.

My rabbit is too fat (and he's not going in the pot). Just wondered what I should be feeding each day. At the moment he has limited pellets, as much hay as he wants and some veggies. I'm going to cut down on the pellets but how much veg should I give each day and what type? At the moment he has carrott, parsley and basil.

I walk alone or with my small terrior dog sometimes. The neighborhood I walk in has dogs and sometimes they are loose. I get more barks and curiousity from other dogs when I'm with my dog than when I'm walking alone. Usually dogs that were loose in the neighborhood would quickly go to my dog to smell him.

Or, when I'm alone, dogs that were loose, would try to walk up to me. But I'd yell at them and tell them to get back in their yard. Both times they responded and backed down.

Here's the question - how to deal with a vicious dog who won't respond to my commands or a dog who wants to attack my smaller dog while I'm on a walk - what other options do I have to protect myself besides the following:

Pepper spray (I hear that's effective)
Rambo Style (Carry a sharp stick and stab the dog to death)
Physical fighting (I might loose to a really crazy dog)
Shooting the dog with my gun (last resort)

What other methods can I use that you know are effective?

We have a 2 year old black cat. We also have two other cats. Daddy, mommy, baby. In the Last three months, the daddy cat has been beating up every cat that comes along our street, EVERY cat. He thinks he owns all 7 houses by us. He really hurts these cats, to where they are limp. And the cats are in there own yard, now he is attacking our girl cat, his sister. He is being a big bully, but when he comes in the house to eat and sleep, he's a sweetheart. What is going on? I feel bad for the neighbor cats. Any non snotty advise would help, thank you...FYI Yes he is fixed, and has all his shots up to date, No, we can not keep him inside, we have 3 little kids opening the door all day. We did get a puppy three months ago, but I think this started before that?? don't know....

What do they do if you break a rule like taking a pet with you, have a dog the size of a cat and was thinking about taking her with me for the weekend, just wondering what they would do if they found out.

Jeffy my black male cat, 12 years old. He has a terrible dry skin problem. I have to bathe him weekly and gently scrape off the old skin. It makes him miserable and looks horrible. What can I do to help my boy?

I live in a failrly small apartment, so there's no real good place for the litter box. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I got really sick of the smell and threw the litter box out onto the patio and every few hours I'll let my cat our there to use it. Is there anyway that I can train my cat to go to the patio door whenever he needs to use the litter box (I know how to train a dog to do this... but motivating the cat is a little trickier). I know this sounds like a weird question... but if people can train cats to use the toilet, then why not train him to go to the door? Any suggestions? :)

Our black lab passed away back in the summer and we are wanting to get a chocolate lab. The black lab was wonderful with the kids and just a wonderful pet. I have had some people say to stay away from chocolate labs. Does anyone know anything about the chocolate labs compared to the black labs?

Why does my cat poop in the littler box and then take the poop out of the litter and place it on the carpet infront of the box? I know she takes it out, and doesn't just poop on the floor, because their is litter on the poop. I empty the box once every few days... there doesn't seem to be blood or anything out of the ordinary in her stool. She is only a year and a half old and has been doing this for about 8 months... I love my cat alot, but this is a very frustraiting problem for me. Why does she do it, and how can i make her stop?

Im considering neutering my male Golden Retriever/Lab mix, and was wondering if somebody could tell me what are some good and bad things about doing so, and what are the effects on his behavior? Both positive and negatives would be helpful.

I have an apt to get my 5 year old male Shih Tzu on the 14th. We have had 2 other appointments over the years that my husband has cancelled. Because Shih Tzu's are rather tempremental anyway, he is afraid that because we didnt get him fixed at an early age and waite so long it is going to make him "change". I have assured him that after the first couple of weeks and he recovers from the trauma of the surgery he will go back to normal, but he wouldn't believe me. HELP! PLEASE, someone help me find something that can convince him to keep the appointment in 2 weeks. I dont want to go through this all over again. I would prefer to get him fixed before he gets prostate or testicular cancer and we loose him because of my husbands ignorance! Has anyone heard of dogs personalities "changing" for the worse after neutering at this age?

I have a 9 mos. old lab/mix and I have tried to leave her alone for 5-10 mins at a time with a radio on and some things with my scent on them to make her feel comfortable, but she chewed up some newspapers and scattered them all over the place. My main concern is that I rent, and I am really afraid she will chew up the rug(which is wall to wall throughout), walls, or baseboards. She has a ton of chew toys ranging in size and texture. We lavish her with love and hugs and time as much as we can(mostly nights and weekends, we are mainly homebodies). When weather warrants, we take her for rides in the car. We let her sleep in our room at night with the door closed, but she has freedom to be in and out of her crate. Are we asking too much for her at this age? She isn't quite potty trained 100% yet, either, thanks to the foster home paper training. But if she needs to go, she at least goes on the kitchen floor.
