Digging is natural, and can also be from boredom. You cant change nature, but you can bury her poo in the hole... she wont dig in that spot anymore (but she will find a new one)
I like to bury my fence into the ground a bit, and you can place chicken wire under the soil also... most dogs wont dig threw it, there for they wont dig their way out of the yard.
If you doggie is simply destroying your entire yard, then you need to consider giving her less space to be in... kenneling her, and only letting her out for a good run and play when you are there to supervise.

The reason your dog digs is because its bored. That is it. By thinking that you need to punish the dog for digging, you are missing the point entirely. The punishment should fall upon the owner. You need to excersize the dog more. A tired dog is not going to want to expend a lot of energy digging a hole. You can't simply let a dog outside and expect it will just be happy. Dogs are pack animals and like to be with others in their pack so go outside WITH your dog.

If your dog is an outside dog, why are you punishing it? The dog has to do what a dog gotta do.
Instead of punishing the dog, go to the nearest grocery store and go to the pet section, there is a spray that you can spray around the house or in the yard, therefore the dog wont go near or around the area you sprayed. The spary is particularly for house training but it could be beneficial in the same sence!

Pick up the poop (with her watching) and bury it in the hole she dug. Cover it with dirt. She will not dig there. Repeat the process and she will learn that if she digs she will be in S#$T. They learn quickly. Mine did. Do not punish her as she does not remember what she did.

I can understand where you are coming from. My dad had a dog that dug huge holes and slept in them. He began putting large rocks in the holes and covering them up with dirt. the dog stopped digging. lots of luck

Omg that is mean, If you have a breed that likes to dig you should have a special place for your pet to dig, don't punish your dog, he/she doesnt know better.

Punish a dog for doing doggy things. Better you just get rid of it.

Okay this might sound gross but its effective. Dogs don't dig were they poop, so bury some of their poop in the areas that they are digging.

The dog would have zero perception of why it was being punished, so you are waisting your time with that one.
What you want to do is teach the dog what it can do (alternative behavior) instead of trying to teach it what it can't do.
