I'm not a "cat person" by any means, so forgive me if this is a stupid question!

I've got two cats (Brother and sister) who are generally quite good pals. But today, they've started attacking each other. Like, full on catwars. They circle around each other and pounce and stratch and all sorts of rather scary stuff. I know that cats sometimes play rough, but it doesn't look like playing to me. They're really going at it.

So, is this just a fluke thing that they'll get over or are they trying to mate, or what?

I am setting up a new 55 gallon freshwater aquarium. I live in an area where the supply water has a high degree of hardness. Is it worthwhile for me to invest in a RO water purifier for my aquarium needs? What are some of the things I need to keep in mind in selecting one? What are some good brands?

My mother in law recently passed away and left her dogs with us. We already have 2 dogs and 4 kids. It's just more than I can handle.
I've put ads in the papers and called several animal rescue services (they all say that they are Full). The dogs are great! Monkey is male Chihuahua100%, he's about a year old.
Mary Jane is 50 % Chihuahua and 50% Daschund, about 18 months old. Both are great with kids and house trained.
Any ideas on how we can find them good homes would be appreciated. We are in the Atlanta Area if anyone is interested in either dog.

My husband and I recently adopted a new kitten from a rescue group in our area. He was actually born in his foster home but he is having some major separation anxiety issues. I'm not sure if he was separated from his mother too early or what. Anyway,he follows us all over the house and cries when he can't see one of us. When we go to leave he cries for at least 30 minutes and I'm sure it's stressful for him. This morning he sat outside my shower and cried because although he could see me, he couldn't get to me. I've tried putting him down in his bed with one of my sweatshirts, waiting until he falls asleep and keeping him in the same room as our pet rabbit. But nothing seems to make him feel any better except when we come back in and let him out and then it's all purrs. I'm really starting to get concerned about the little guy. Does anyone have any other ideas how I can make him feel more secure?

I calmly try to touch him but he fly's away or starts to bite my hand. I give him fruit and stuff but he only eats when he knows im busy with something else, I don't really know what to do now. He just about a full grown conure I don't know if that has anything to do with it but you get where im coming from.

Anyways help me figure a way I can be closer to one of my favorite pets I have. Thanks

My family is going visit an alpaca farm next weekend and I wanted to bring something that we could hand feed to the animals (with the owners permission, of course) Do they eat apples or carrots or something like that?

We inhertied an adorable, lovable resucue puppy last week. We're quite attached to her, as is the family Coonhound. To me, she looks like a boxer. One the way to the vet this morning, I was stopped by animal control, who said we can't keep her because she's a bitbull. I asked the vet, and he didn't think she was a pitbull, that she looked like a brindle boxer mix. The animal control officer stopped us on the way home and I told him that the vet didn't think she was a pitbull, but that she was mixed. Since the vet could not specifically say she is not part pitbull, but only that he didn't think she is, that was not good enough for animal control. I called city hall, and the cheif of police came down (one of two officers in a one-horse town) and he took one look and said, "She's a Pit."

Is there any reliable resource out there to help figure out what kind of puppy she is? We don't want to lose her if we don't have to. If she is part pitbull we need to find the right kind of home for her

which she leaves all the time on its own. I often go around with some food..........she does feed it - when she's home that is - but gives it no attention. What should I do? I adore animals and the neglect is really upsetting me.

I have one of those water bowls that holds a large amount of water and dispenses it as the cat drinks. You know, you fill the big resevoir, then turn it over on the base and it always keeps their water full? Well she plays with it!! she thinks it's so fun that she can turn it and make the water spill everywhere. I have squirted her with water when she starts to play with it, I'm swatted her REPEATEDLY when she plays with it, I've rubbed her nose in the water and spanked her...nothing is working. She is making a mess and I'm afriad my carpet is going to mildew from being wet so much and I'm sick of always cleaning it up. HELP!!

Our cat, Baxter, had kittens in May. We gave 3 of them away and kept one of the girls, Bella, because Baxter loved playing with her. We loved watching them play around – they seemed to have SOOOO much fun! Baxter was spayed about a month ago. The first 1-2 weeks after her surgery, she was still fine and was playing around with Bella. The past 2 weeks she has been downright mean to the kitten. Anytime Bella even goes near her, she starts snarling at her and/or charges her and bites at her neck. It is definitely not playful activity. Is she just tired of being a mom? Is the kitten too rough? What can we do to make her nicer? I look at her and give her a firm NO and she is definitely watchful of me with her behavior. Or should I just let them have it out? I hate to see her being so mean to her kitten when they used to have so much fun together. And I definitely feel bad for the kitten. Will it get any better? Please help!
