We usually have two variants. The first one is outright terrorism, search and destroy, dive bombing my feet or legs, knocking stuff off of any surface, galloping like loud horses, etc. The rest of the time, my male cat makes a few sweet bird-chirping sounds, then he goes into "the pattern", which involves circling my head, by crawling over me at the waist and kissing and sticking full whiskers in my face. Even if I hug and pet him, this continues until I kick him out of the room or he decides he's hungry and goes to check out the food dish.
