It sounds like you like that 'northern' look. The smallest of breeds with that northern look is the Pomeranian. Another I like of the smallish breeds is the Shiba Inu.

Be aware that northern type breeds are active and can be very independent (will sass you and give you lip and the upraised finger, if you don't learn to understand 'dog') They may simply run the other way when you call them. Even a small one can be a huge handful because this is a genre with a lot of primitive traits. They were not bred selectively to follow directions and take orders. Many of them have prey driven inclination so may chase other critters and small ones that get chased can be hurt or worse, if you don't understand how to control these dogs.

If you're just asking and not planning to get a dog then it is a fun question. :)

My aunt has a dog that looks very much like a husky and is like a toy dog. She's full grown and very small, about the size of a slightly tall jack russel. lol. She's a mutt though. She has like lhaso apso and poodle and a whole bunch of other breeds in her. But you can never tell when it comes to mixes as to how they turn out. I'd check out humane societies and maybe search the internet.

first off, american eskimos are not huskies, nor are malamutes. a husky is a husky. malamutes are a heftier breed that happen to look like a husky. there isnt such a thing as a "miniature" or "toy" husky, like you might find with other breeds. unless you happen to find a breeder with small(er) huskies, meaning they just didnt reach their full growth potential, then you wont find one at all. females are usually smaller, but not by much. there is a breed that looks like a smaller version of a husky, but it is not a husky. it doesnt have the same hair, nor the capabilities. sorry.

I have seen some huskies that stay small (well small for a husky), it all depends on the lineage. I guess if you are looking for one, check the parents and the lineage. Get on-line and just start looking for husky breeders, e-mail them and get some answers.

Most of your husky breeds are large breed dogs, but the American Eskimo Husky is a medium breed dog. If you go to www.google.com and type in American Eskimo Husky you will get tons of sites. Good luck.

There is the Klee Kai. They look like a mini-husky, but they are a breed all their own. They are a toy breed and do not act like a Husky.

You might consider a Japanese Spitz it is similar to a husky in a few ways but they stay smaller and are snowy white.

Malamute's are huskies that get really big. Sorry but I'm pretty sure most Huskies get to be average size. You could try getting a runt or something.

A Norwegian Elkhound is smaller, 55 lbs, up to my knees (I know that doesn't mean anything to u) and a northern dog, but do a lot of research on this breed, there not for everyone.
