I have a 10 week old puppy named Shasta. She is 1/2 long-haired Chihuahua and 1/2 Mini-Pin. Her dominant breed is Chihuahua. I'm litter box training her following the advice to keep her in a kennel during the day while at work that is large enough for her litterbox, bed, and bed. She has a hanging water bottle on the side.

She is fed around 7 am, 2:30 pm and again around 8:30pm. She does pretty well at using the litterbox, but was wondering at what point should I graduate her to a larger area while I'm at work (6-7 hrs). I was thinking free reign of our downstairs bathroom. Advice?

Either they haven't been around many, and just don't KNOW, or are they just cold people? A cat is more than just a pet, they are entertaining, funny, have personalities, and provide loving companionship. They are like miniature tigers and lions. How cool is THAT? How can you hate something so pretty that lets you cuddle it and loves you back? HOW???

My family has 2 dogs and 1 cat - Lab/Dalmation/Pitt mix (1 1/4 yrs) and a Maltese (6 yrs). Up until this point all of the animals have gotten along very well. We've always fed the dogs seperately to avoid aggression.

Yesterday, the lab mix had some food left in his dog bowl. He wasn't eating it, nor was he even near it. The maltese was out of his crate and went over to play with my sister. Suddenly, the lab mix mauled the Maltese. His first bit attempt missed, the maltese managed to growl and fight back, but the second bite attempt caught the maltese obviously causing damage. My sister was able to break the fight up and the Maltese was taken to the vet for stitching. When we brought the Maltese home the lab mix continued his aggressive behavior by growling and snarling at the Maltese.

The vet says that we need to get rid of the Lab mix since there's nothing that can be done. Does this sound right?

I want to make a two foot high shelf for my aquarium. The tank is 48"x20"x14" (length, height, depth). Blocks with be stacks of 3 high, 3 stacks across, covered by redwood planks. The stone blocks are the kind used in construction. It will be in my patio, under a partly covered overhang. Will the blocks crumble over time under the weight of the tank, which i heard will be 600 lbs when full? Will it hold up in a small earthquake? Will the redwood planks give way over time due to being outdoors and subject to a little splash or drip of water occassionally?

Mice are icky yucky creatures in the wild, making great messes of your food and spreading diseases, but they are otherwise little and harmless furry things. Does it make you uneasy at all to think of little baby mice being fed alive to snakes that kill them by swallowing and digesting them?

He's 37' at withers with 40' neck size, big boned, he's supposed to be huge by 2 but he's almost 3 with no significant weight gain. he's been checked for every possible worm and has none...they just tell me he's a young active dog but he does nothing but sleep and follow me around the house. I just want him to reach his potential and be a "huge, massive" dog

my dog won't do his buisness outdoors when i take it for a walk, only once we get home, we've tried taking it to different places like a park or a beach, but it doesnt work he does it in the garden but his crap is really smelly and its EVERYWHERE , i guess im kinda fine with that but i cannot keep going to pick up crap from the garden every few hours, i checked with the vet, he said my dog was totally healthy and normal, so im confused and curious....

I work at a pet shop, and we've had this baby burm for about a month, in apparent good health. I went on vacation for 2 weeks and shortly after I got back, the poor thing had bugs ALL over him! They seemed to come out of nowhere. He was soaking in his water bowl and it looked like someone sprinkled pepper in it, there were hundreds of the things drowned in the bowl. I cleaned/disinfected the bowl and the cage and gave him a bath, but I looked in there later and they're still there! They are little black things probably around 1/8 of an inch... maybe a bit bigger. They're too big to be mites, and they really don't look/act like ticks. Any idea what they might be? I gave him a thorough look-over when we first got him and he was perfectly clean, and we've never had this problem before, so I've no idea where they came from... I'm going to treat them like mites and probably be battling them most of the day... just wanted to know what I was dealing with...

I heard from someone that box turtle hatchlings are sometimes sold at large outdoor flea markets. Has anyone seen this in Virginia?
