Some dogs don't like to do their business when there are in different places.

You can control the consistency and odor of the poop to a large extent by altering his diet. Change him over properly and slowly from his current dog food to a high-quality food, such as Canidae or the like. I feed my dogs Nutrisource lamb and rice (with no corn), and they poop about half as much as they did on Pedigree, and it is smaller and less stinky.

You might try a small fence to keep him out of the garden. Make him choose a new favorite spot to go. My dogs won't go when we are on walk, either, but I prefer it that way myself.

We have four dogs and a good sized yard. We do poop duty twice a week, and put it all in our compost box. It breaks down quickly. Best of luck!

It is the pups home, he feels most secure there, would you go to the rest room in a gas station bathroom if you lived right next door? Anyway, why take it out of the garden? It would be good fertilizer if you turn it in the soil and drench it with water. My dads in the fertilizer business and my moms a vet.

why not clean out the garden once a day instead of every few hours. this is just what he prefers to do....i don't like cleaning up dog poo either, no one does..but its just part of being a dog owner.
i have 4 dogs, and 3 foster dogs~! believe me i KNOW what picking up tons of poop is like. just be glad yours does it in ONE spot. I'm all over the yard and back..and sometimes i miss one and then the lawn mower gets a hold of it, and well......you can imagine what a mess that is.

I don't understand are you saying that you want your dog to do his business some where other then were his domain is? That is your dogs home and I would Rather pick it up at home then some were Else.If he wants to poop in the garden then I would be glad it wasn't my front room or a neighbors front yard.

Dogs get territorial about where they do their business too. Did you train him as a pup to use the garden? Then you trained him to do it there, and it's HIS place now.

Sorry, but no matter where he goes, you are going to have to pick up after him. it's part of pet ownership. Get some scoop tools so you don't have to bend over and don't have to touch it.

I have 4 BIG dogs that go in my yard... scooping is just part of the deal.

maybe he just likes crapping in the garden? There are these pads for animals that you can put down that have a scent that make dogs wanna go potty on them. get some and put them where you want him to go and by the time you run out heel be used to it and heel just go there instinctively.

To train your dog to use a different spot in the yard, take him/her to the same spot everyday. Take the feces and place it where you want the pet to go. Do this everytime you take the dog out potty. Then give your pet lot's of praise for using the same spot you want them too. Pet's are creatures of habit you just have to change their habit. I have 3 small dogs a jack russell, chihuahua and a toy poodle, they all use the same spot in the yard.

Even if you take your dog elsewhere by law in most cities they have ordinances on cleaning up your animals poop. You could also get fined for not doing this. Get a pooper scooper so you don't have to get to close to the poop and let him go in the garden. He is comfortable doing it there.

It is a mental thing. Dogs like to feel safe when they are doing their business. Have you ever noticed that dogs will squat to poop, and then change their position and/or location 2 or three times before actually pooping? They are trying to find a spot where they don't feel vulnerable. Your dog is probably just not comfortable doing it when he's not on his turf.
