I have two cats but when one of them is lying on my bed getting strokes she purrs and slavas, does this mean she is just really comfortable?

Cats always land feet first and buttered toast always lands butter side down when dropped. So if you tie a piece of toast to a cats back which one hits the floor when dropped.

I asked my sister to watch my cat while I went overseas. But she said that she could not because her cat has an allergy to other cats. Her cat starts sneezing and coughing when he is around them. She says she went to a vet and he told her this. Is this possible? If he is allergic to cat dander and hair...wouldn't he be allergic to himself too? Or did she just not want to watch my cat.

We have a chow chow and she is 10 months and has just started bleeding a weeks ago -
1) how long will she bleed for?
2) how long will she be on heat for?

Why are there no books or websites that discuss this issue - it's very stressful for a first time dog owner!
thanks for your help

I have been told that poodles, which I don't care for, and Newfoundlands, which I am seriously considering are ideal for people who are severly allergic to dog dander due to the type of hair they have..does anyone know of any other breeds(preferably large) that are suppose to be ok for those who have allergies or asthma? Thanks!

I saved a freshly hatched creek turtle from the highway and he's now in my aquarium-50 gal. I found him a friend that is three times his size. Should I be worried the little guy could get hurt or possibly killed?

I'm going to get me a German Sheperd. I like them a lot! I'm going to Germany to live and I'm thinking about getting one when I get there. I heard they are because they're the purest pedigree over there for their breeds. Anyone know if this is true if they're bigger than the ones over here? Someone was telling me they are almost twice the size of the American German Sheperds. He said they're huge! I'm like cool!

I have a 2 year old persian male cat. Hehas been walking around the house and falling asleep in the hallway ever since wwe've got him, he always looks bored and lazy, he meows in the middle of the night every time, he always poops everywhere outside his litterbox even when its fresh( he uses it when people are around) I can't afford to buy catnip and scratchingposts, any tips for cheering him up?
How do I get rid of the stinky smell around the house and how do I stop him from 'shedding' everywhere?
Why does he wake me up in the middle of the night and takes over the bed please help!!!

i have a small chihuahua she weighs 1/2lb and the vet says she cannot be treated with common chemicals and treatments due to her size. I would love to find an all natural chemical free totally effective remedy for eliminating fleas in the home and on my little dog

In the last two days I've lost 4 fish and one more is dying right now. I bought them about a month ago, three were Tetras and one was a guppy. I added the proper chemicals, although I haven't had a chance to vaccum the gravel. Could this be it? Is this what's killing my fish? Or is it something else?

Ok, my chihuahua is 11 months old. I had potty-trained her fairly quickly to use little pads, she was going to be my apartment-dog.
We moved to a house where the roomies' dogs were neglected, and they shat and peed on the floor. My dog regressed. Moved again, started trying to re-train her to use pads and go outside with us every few hours. The pads didn't seem to work anymore, seems like she "forgot" the difference between pad and floor. So I thought maybe it was time for her to start only going outside.

Right now, I make a habit to ask her "OUTSIDE?" and see if she perks her ears. If she does, we go right away. Also, if she messes on the floor (daily), I put her nose to it, pop her with a rolled-up paper, and say "NO! BAD!!" carry her to the door, and say "OUTSIDE!"

She seems to think "OUTSIDE" is where we go to smoke, not to pee and poo. We've been doing this for a month and she still seems confused. Is there any chance of teaching her? HOW?

Why is it that you will meet people who hate cats, and very few people that hate dogs?

The exact question is, is that people who hate cats would love to kill them and probably without guilt, but people that hate dogs mostly just try to avoid them, but don't have the desire to kill them? WHY!?

Ok. This is going to sound terrible. But my friends got a kitten last week and he was eating fine until somehow he got stuck overnight in the fridge :( (yes i know they really shouldn't be pet owners, but they feel terrible about it) He was ok when they found him in the morning but since then he is extremely tired, sneezing all the time, and won't eat at all, he will hardly drink anything unless you force him and he just looks totally out of it. I'm scared he is going to get dehydrated soon or something. should they take him to the vet asap? is it possible for the cat to have caught a cold? Also, what is a good brand of cat food for kittens? and is wet or dry food better? I'm want to make sure they do the right thing and told them i would try to find out what i could about all this but either way i think the cat should go to the vet....any advice or tips?

Every cat I have ever owned or seen near a fax machine that is communicating will go insane and jump on it or run around it and meow continuously. Do the analog sounds or something attract them in some type of sound that they understand or can only hear, or barely understand, like a dog to a dog whistle? Maybe cats are really aliens thinking their mother ship has landed to get them!

My cat is pregnant for the 2nd time. I found her right before her first litter was born and had every intention of getting her fixed after she stopped nursing her first litter but before I could she was pregnant again. Does getting her fixed interfere with her nursing or will I be able to get her fixed right after her next litter without concern for her kittens. No lectures just real answers please.

I have taken in 2 orphaned puppies. I have been bottle feeding and they are eating great, however, I am a little concerned about one of them. She seems to have a hard time going to the bathroom and a warm cotton ball is not working anymore. It has been about 2 days since she has deficated. Is there anything i can give her to help her along?
