Every cat I have ever owned or seen near a fax machine that is communicating will go insane and jump on it or run around it and meow continuously. Do the analog sounds or something attract them in some type of sound that they understand or can only hear, or barely understand, like a dog to a dog whistle? Maybe cats are really aliens thinking their mother ship has landed to get them!

Cats have very sensitive ears. They are probably trying to get the machine to shut up. Or maybe it thinks the machine is another cat. Don't have fax here, but my spoiled cat Nala finds CD-ROM's, DVD's, and the like irrisitable. Watch out when you open or close them, she's right there ready to attack.

Interesting...mine makes a point to visit the DVD player no matter how much out of the way it is. Maybe it's the warmth of the fax, printer, DVD player and whatever all that cats like??

My 'Rooza" loved my fax.... No matter where in the house she was she would RUN to the fax and slap at the paper as it rolled out.

I have the same problem with cats and my printer. They're facinated by the paper it takes in and spits out.

yes they might be trying to make the sound stop because its unbarable to them .whenever i whistle, my cat comes over and starts meowing and puts his head against my mouth to make me shutup because he can't stand the sound, mabe thats the same.
