I have been told that poodles, which I don't care for, and Newfoundlands, which I am seriously considering are ideal for people who are severly allergic to dog dander due to the type of hair they have..does anyone know of any other breeds(preferably large) that are suppose to be ok for those who have allergies or asthma? Thanks!

People are crossing a Lab and Poodle (Labradoodle) for this reason. Some of the pups have a poodle coat, but look like a lab.

Bichon Frise - small, white, cute dog with poodle-like hair.

Or, try anything mixed with a poodle - but spend time with the puppy before buying because it may or may not inherit the poodle hair from it's parents.

LOL who ever recomended a newf for an allergy sufferer either has no idea what they are talking about or really wants you to suffer badly.!!

a soft coated wheaton terrier is a good choice, or any of the dogs with hair like a shi tzu

bichon's (they are really small) and I believe cocker spaniels. I don't know of large dogs. But if you do a search on the internet you may be able to find some large dogs.

we gave a shitzu puppy to a friend who is allergic to dogs. that was 7 months ago and she is doing fine . No allergies. Shitzus do not shed as they have fur and not hair.

I believe the Labradoodle (Lab/Poodle mix) is hypo allergenic and they don't shed much either.

Well you can try a german shepherd or a rogweiler. And do not and I said do not try a poodle.
