We have crime, corruption, political corruption, politicians that openly lie to get elected then admit it, we see the good demonized and the bad lionized, our woman are disrespected as men are disrespected everywhere, our children are neglected while mothers work to survive or fathers have been thrown out in the name of the law, we live to work and the corporations extort everything from us, our food supply is a disaster, Christianity has been hijacked by the corporate world and used to make the masses follow, we cannot cut the fossil fuel because the oilmen control government and the corporations refuse to cooperate in the name of the dollar..yes, the dollar is our god and the corporations are our new apostles...now tell me why I should not embrace Islam....and I mean here....and I don't abandon problems so if I don't like it I am staying right where I am to fight for the countries I once knew.

The parents of Madeleine are now "formal suspects" in the disappearance of their daughter with control of identity and residence, which means they cannot leave the country or their residence in Portugal, for more than five days without police authorization."

"Según publica en su edición de este sábado el diario portugués Jornal de Notícias, los padres de Madeleine serán interrogados la semana próxima por el ministerio público portugués que podrá presentar el caso ante el juez de instrucción criminal para que pueda tomar medidas cautelares más graves contra el matrimonio McCann."

bargain. Why?
The Portuguese police had any real evidence to go on, they would have charged them both by now. They have given them no restrictions on bail and they are no closer to bringing any charges about. IF, they did, then why have they offered Kate a deal? "Tell us that you had something to do with the disappearance (not murder) of your daughter and you'll only do two years". They don't know anything. The Portuguese police are no closer to finding out what has happened to Maddie as they wouldn't be bargaining if they did. They are in the limelight just as much as the McCanns and they know this. Why do you think they have made them suspects? It's to stop them talking to the press. This is one of the conditions of being a formal suspect. The McCanns have shown their doubts about the skills of the Portuguese police and this stops them telling the press their doubts. They are free to leave the country if they wish? The police don't have any ideas about this.

very surprised the media hasn't jumped on this. Who did have possession of this rental on or about the time of the abduction or just after. The police must have already checked this so maybe their is more to this questioning than the mccanns are letting on.

Madeleine dies, either by by overdose or a broken neck (another theory touted by the BBC last night).

Parents or friends bury her body somewhere.

25 days later the McCanns hire a Renault Scenic to get around, continue the campaign.

Everything is going fine until day 42 when police conduct searches around Praia du Luz based on a tip off from a pyschic. Nothing however is revealed. Now I don't believe in psychics at all, but I do believe in common sense, and common sense tells us that likely Madeleine is buried somewhere around Praia du Luz. So what if the police searches around that area were a little too close for comfort for the McCanns. They realise that if the police continue or widen their search, that Madeleine may be found or be stumbled upon by a passerby as they didnt have time to properly hide the body as well as they would have liked initially because it was such a rushed job.

Ive always thought there was something that didnt add up in the Mccan case right from the start like how the parents looked so calm for saying their 4yr old daughter had just been taken amongst other things.
But what i cant understand is if it was the parents how did they manage to do it when they were out with friends all night?
When would they have had chance to dispose of the body etc?

Im not saying its not them but even with them as suspects the whole thing still doe'snt add up or is it just me?

OK, so the protesters came and went. The Police were heavy-handed. The event cost millions of dollars. John Howard apparently boosted his popularity. George Bush made his (almost predictable) glitches -- thank heavens he did'nt need to say "NUCLEAR".

But was it worth it? So far we have an aspirational agreement on climate change. There will be some inter-country agreements. Personally I think the whole thing is a GROSS waste of time and money - lots of it.

Please could you give me YOUR opinion - some well reasoned argument. Take sides, one way or the other - make your point. Thanks!

A few of the relatives back home have been on the telly having their say. Auntie Phil was as usual spouting off, but one thing she said did make me wonder, She said that Jane Tanner had seen a man carrying Madeleine away wrapped in a blanket!!!! She didn't say "child" she definitely said "Madeleine" - Now if thats true (not) then why didn't Jane run after the man?

Also there was an uncle who was pleading for the public to carrying on supporting Kate and Gerry, and had the cheek to mention the word "financially"

who dared to ask THAT question.

Seems she's not the only one who thought that Gerry and Kate may have played a part in M's disappearance.

Friggen muppets the lot of the British press. Every last one of them.

and looked at their news section, yet there is no mention of this arguida and arguido status dumped on the McCanns. Must be untrue then as Im sure they would mention it on their website.

Oh thats right, they pick and choose the truth ...... Somehow me thinks this website isnt going to be updated much anymore.

I notice Gerry didnt have time to update his blog yet. Cant wait to see what it says.

Day 127 - Police pretty much know Kate and I did it. Yet Im so arrogant I will deny to the bitter end. Hope the rest of the world can't see what an a .. h ..ole I am.

Surely in light of these new developments "The Fund" should be frozen / seized? If they are convicted of being involved in Maddy's disapperarence / death, will they also be charged with fraud?

And I have a feeling that once Monday arrives, it will be proven to be more the case, when you suddenly find that O'Brien and Tanner are in the Algarve. And they arent there to top up their tans!

Here's what I said last month about what could have happened that night.

Ok, so now the McCanns have been named as suspects, and the police think they may, accidentally or no, have had some part in the death of their daughter, they have allowed them to leave the police station, and return to look after their other two children. Surely they could be putting the twins in danger by doing this? If there is the slightest suspision that the parents harmed their daughter, should they be allowed to continue to look after their other children, potentially putting them at risk?

There is no substantive disagreement between the Democrat Party and this sworn enemy of the US. Both want us out of the Middle East. Both want us to convert to Islam. Both are fans of Naom Chomsky. Both hate successful American corporations. Both hate freedom. Both want to impose government tyranny on people.

Where is there any difference?

Oh, here is one. Bin Laden is more candid about his intent to take out our way of life.

The McCanns have both been named as suspects in the disappearance of their daughter, Maddie. A lot of people have argued that they shouldn't be looked down upon for leaving their children unsupervised while they went out to dinner

Here's the article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070908/ts_afp/portugalbritaincrime_11;_ylt=AgpPKiRZWhnvX20.smfjx41bbBAF

Give your opinion: If parents don't feel compelled to keep track of their little ones for the sake of the child, maybe the fact that the parents will certainly come under suspicion could be reason enough to put the weight of public opinion firmly on the side of effective supervision.

What do you think?
