We have crime, corruption, political corruption, politicians that openly lie to get elected then admit it, we see the good demonized and the bad lionized, our woman are disrespected as men are disrespected everywhere, our children are neglected while mothers work to survive or fathers have been thrown out in the name of the law, we live to work and the corporations extort everything from us, our food supply is a disaster, Christianity has been hijacked by the corporate world and used to make the masses follow, we cannot cut the fossil fuel because the oilmen control government and the corporations refuse to cooperate in the name of the dollar..yes, the dollar is our god and the corporations are our new apostles...now tell me why I should not embrace Islam....and I mean here....and I don't abandon problems so if I don't like it I am staying right where I am to fight for the countries I once knew.

You REALLY REALLY think these problems do not exist in the Islamic world??? How naive you are!

Let's start with lying politicians getting elected. Whose fault is that? A politician cannot lie an educated electorate!

Well in the Islamic world you don't have that problem because the education level is with only a few exceptions pitiful and all the governments are either theocracies or despotic regimes. If you really think these are really the kinds of regimes in which you have less crime and corruption, you are beyond help. (BTW, I'm not from the USA, so I am by no stretch of the imagination defending it or its policies).

Now, lets talk about women being disrespected. Have you ever been to a stoning my friend (for the most part it is a "delight" only women get to experience)? They tie a woman's hands behind her back wrap her in white cloth so you cannot see her face and bury her waist deep in the ground. See, she is not even a person anymore, she is a "thing". Then the hail of stones comes at her and the white cloth becomes tinged with red blood. All sanctioned and ordained by the top religious leaders.

Stoning is typical punishment for adultery, but not just adultery, see if a woman is raped and does not have 4 witnesses to prove it it counts as adultery and she risks being stoned to death. That is why there are "no" rapes in the Islamic countries and they in fact don't keep these statistics. In fact, unless you are covered head to toe, you are practically inviting rape.

See, if you ever wondered how can there be enough wives for every man in a polygynous society, the answer is THERE AREN'T. For every rich guy with several wives, there are several POOR WIFELESS SEXUALLY FRUSTRATED and VIOLENT men roaming the streets. (Several western women I know took to the practice of wearing the hijab after being stalked.) These are quite however, useful when it is time to apply pressure on some "kaffir" community (see these are the unbelievers, they must either be subjugated and must pay protection tax or be killed, no other choice and will in any case forever burn in hell designed by the all-merciful Allah), burn an embassy down because of some cartoons or whatnot, or it is time to wage "jihad" against the enemy.

Oh, but there is a BIT of relief in the form of trafficked girls from East Europe. In Shia communities you have this thing called "temporary marriage" in which you pay to get "married" for a few hours and then you divorce, all ordained by the religious leaders.

Oh, and materialism? Don't make me laugh. I visited the Gulf countries, the prime example of what a RICH Islamic country would look like and they put the typical Beverly Hills denizen to shame! I have NEVER seen more materialism ANYWHERE. Fast food at every corner. The only major activity is hanging out at GIANT shopping malls (one in Dubai has an entire SKI-SLOPE!). Everyone wears the flashiest clothes and jewelry and drives the most expensive cars imaginable (at 150 kmph) and lives in giant mansions.

But I am not telling you not to embrace Islam because of these things: the appaling human rights record, the rampant repression of free speech, thought and anything that might challenge the stranglehold of Islam, the despicable treatment or women and the barely concealed religious fundamentalism and bigotry unmatched in ANY other religion. No sir!

Do not embrace Islam because it is NOT TRUE! There is no more truth in the Quran than in the Bible or Alice from Wonderland. It's all fiction and stories with NOT A SINGLE SHRED OF TRUTH! What proof do they HAVE god exists and spoke to Mohammad? NONE but empty rhetoric!

If you want to work for social change, there are many avenues you can pursue productively. Religion is a vehicle for working on yourself. If you see Islam as the path to greater personal peace and fulfillment, then go for it. Changing the world will take a lot of hard work, regardless of where you worship.

There is no utopia - Islam has all of those problems, and some worse. Many Islamic countries do not even have the protections of women and children bought about by the enlightenment - their protection is that if their family - should their family be good -ok, should they be bad and hurtful - still ok.

Know this, All that say they
are Christian, aren't.

True Christians don't do the things
you just mentioned.

Turn your back on Jesus, remember
He said he's not going to know you.

Pray, have Faith, and read the Bible
King James version. Try the revised
copy if you have trouble understanding
the wording. It's easier, and Pray
for understanding.

I dare you to just *try* it. I don't think you'll regret it, and I highly encourage that YOU study Islam for yourself; not from the media and not from strict Muslims that think they're always right. I recommend (not saying all of it is right)

http://www.submission.org as a good place to start.

Peace.

My, my. It must suck to have your life; it certainly is depressing to witness your attitude toward it.

Listen. If you think it would make you feeeel better to point your rump skywards five times a day, go right ahead and embrace to your tortured heart's content. I happen to love MY country, so I won't be joining you.
