Madeleine dies, either by by overdose or a broken neck (another theory touted by the BBC last night).

Parents or friends bury her body somewhere.

25 days later the McCanns hire a Renault Scenic to get around, continue the campaign.

Everything is going fine until day 42 when police conduct searches around Praia du Luz based on a tip off from a pyschic. Nothing however is revealed. Now I don't believe in psychics at all, but I do believe in common sense, and common sense tells us that likely Madeleine is buried somewhere around Praia du Luz. So what if the police searches around that area were a little too close for comfort for the McCanns. They realise that if the police continue or widen their search, that Madeleine may be found or be stumbled upon by a passerby as they didnt have time to properly hide the body as well as they would have liked initially because it was such a rushed job.

Also later on Gerry did comment on how the media interest had died down, so he and Kate werent being hounded 24/7 by the media as was claimed during the middle stages of the disappearance. Perhaps they thought this was an ideal opportunity to move the body. Of course if the body was buried, the area around isnt lush soft ground, but quite rocky, it is highly likely that in the process of removing a body to be transported that the body would pick up nicks and scratches that would obviously bleed. Perhaps its at this point that when the body was put into the boot that the some blood cells seeped from one of the wounds into the interior of the car.

I believe something spooked them into moving the body, and it could well have been on Day 42.

Dave, theres NO WAY a body would still bleed after all that time.

Go back to the drawing board........

I can't imagine that with all the publicity and media attention, that this could be a plausible explanation - the McCanns have been placed under the medias scrutiny throughout this ordeal, which includes being followed everywhere.

If reports that forensic tests show that the traces of Madelaine's blood, are indeed a match, this explains the Portuguese police's new direction.

The vehicle rented 25 days after Madelaine's disappearance is certainly incriminating though!

I hope that the police are including all parties who have rented this vehicle too, no matter how a seemingly unlikely coincidence this would be.

The investigation should also not prematurely conclude that Madelaine is deceased. If she is somewhere out there, efforts to find her should not be reduced.

Apparently they took in the Renault Scenic that the McCanns hired 5 weeks after Madeleine disappeared. It was reported that one of the dogs scented something, and these are the forensics that they're waiting on.

All sounded plausible...but dead bodies don't bleed - only live ones do. That's how forensics can tell whether people are dead or alive when they received injuries to the body, ie. blood means they were bashed before they died, also some types of bruising, and scratches. Other types of bruising etc show when the person has died. But blood? Nup, they don't bleed any more. The blood could have been old blood from when they wrapped the body and it came off in flakes in the car, but not from being scratched after dying.

It is possible however, a body wouldn't bleed after that amount of time. It would possibly leak fluids however, Dr's would know that and I would imagine they would have taken appropriate precautions to ensure that the body was well wrapped if they had moved her?
Also, if she had had an accident like a broken neck why would they have trie dto hide that? Accidents happen unfortunately. IF she had been killed by an accidental overdose there would be perhaps more motive? We have not been party to any real evidence as they don't realese any info.
I'm not sure we will ever know the truth.

Dave - I know you really think you have nailed it, but I just cannot comprehend a couple that tried so hard to have this child that they would kill her. They have made this such a high profile case that surely if they had killed their own child
they would be back home and not wanting to face the world.
What kind of people can go all over the place. Meet the Pope
raise all this money - knowing that they were responsible for the death of their daughter?
The friends that they had been with on that night said it was
an impossibility for Kate to commit such a crime. Surely
they would know something. I'm afraid this case just gets
you going round and round in circles.

Hi Dave s

Cam you give me a link to where it officially states that the blood founnd in the renault was that of the childs.

I have searched, and apart from finding references to where the media states samples were taken from the renault, and references stating that police suspect it was the childs, there is nothing to officially say that it def. was the childs.

This i believe is the backbone of the case against the Mcthingemybobs but is it substantiated.

Surely if theres blood, there was an inflicting wound..
I'm sure the McCanns are a very high profile pair in that part of Portugal, if they were digging a grave, surely someone would have seen them, unless one of the Tapas 9 was involved? Maybe Murat was paid to move her body...
Its all speculation, but i don't think we'll ever know the full truth of the events of that night.

The blood was there because one of the friends or the McCanns had hired that car before.

Ok, I agree that the body wouldnt still be bleeding, BUT she could of had dried blood on her IF it was the McCann's who accidently killed her.
Good working out though :)
