Ok, so now the McCanns have been named as suspects, and the police think they may, accidentally or no, have had some part in the death of their daughter, they have allowed them to leave the police station, and return to look after their other two children. Surely they could be putting the twins in danger by doing this? If there is the slightest suspision that the parents harmed their daughter, should they be allowed to continue to look after their other children, potentially putting them at risk?

Kit i am highly concerned about this too. I suspect and hope the McCanns are being closely monitored.

I should imagine (if they still have 1) that the police / family liaison person will be watching the twins closely. I dint think the McCanns spent enough time with the twins to be a threat! The twins are in nursery most days! Where they should of been in the evenings when their parents left them alone.

Also i have read posts on here that the restaurant was only 100yds and the parents could see directly at their apartment but on the aerial view of the complex on the news last night their apartment looked to be on the far side of the building and not a direct view at all plus there was palm trees etc obscuring the view?!?!

Also did the other family's the McCanns were holidaying with and dining with also leave their children alone or did they leave them with sitters or the nursery?

The laws of Portugal are quite different from those of UK.

As I understand it, when a person is classified as a 'police witness' they then receive full protection under the law.

In order for something to happen, such as what you are suggesting, both McCanns would have first to be charged with a crime, such as manslaughter. The police have no plans at this stage to charge them with anything.

I'm very muddled about what's actually supposed to have been happening. Someone should cobble together a diary/list of events.

How did a dead child end up in a car 25 days after her death? The corpse would be rotting surely?

None of what I have heard so far makes any sense.

What a good point. I would like to know if the appropriate authorities in the UK have been checking those 'medical friends' who also left their children alone.

Also, does anyone else think it VERY ODD that the 8 children all went to sleep at just the right time for the parents to go swanning off for a couple of hours?

How could they be sure that even if they were asleep when they left the apartments, leaving the door UNLOCKED, that a child wouldn't go wandering off to look for their Mum or Dad?

The Portugese police seem to be clutching at straws.
First it was Robert Murat and now Maddies parents,so what do they think ,is it that they were all in it together. Its ludicrous.
And do you think that if the parents were in any way guilty they would be trying to generate so much publicity? I would be astounded if there was any truth in their guilt.
The Mcanns are going through hell and have to stay quiet because of Portugese law,but some people see this as a sign of guilt. And wait and see, when they are cleared, those newspapers who are printing all this rubbish will be offering them huge amounts of money for their stories. The rumours about drugging the poor child are just that...rumours and yet everyone seems to think thats what happened.
Imagine being accused of something and not being able to let everyone know that you are innocent but because of the law you have to stay quiet.
That poor family are going through hell and need our prayers and sympathy.

I trully think that they have been named as suspects because the police are running out of options. If so, how terrible for the McCanns. If it turns out that the McCanns were to blame it would be the most callous act I think I've ever heard of.

I imagine the children are being closely observed.
The body language of the McCanns speaks volumes, doesn't it? When you compare their ice-cool composure to the anguished reaction of Rhys Jones's parents.

They should take away the twins temporarily, allowwing regular supervised visits
or let the twins stay where they are and have them supervised 247
And search the family home if they truly think they are on to something

how many times have we seen a parent or parents up in front of the cameras crying for their child's killer to own up only to find later in the investigation it was them all along who commited the crime. This is nothing new.
