If so why are social services not involved, with these children care.

Was the gap between allegedly finding Maddie gone and calling the police so that they could all agree their stories about who checked on the kids and when?

If they all regularly left their kids it would have been clever of Gerry (and/or Kate) to take advantage of this. Imagine the scenario, they put the fear into the hearts of their friends that the police will investigate and if they discover that the kids were just left, they will all be investigated and their kids taken into care. They agree a story, (to protect their friends from this), that they all checked on certain kids at certain times, even getting people to say they listened in on their children too.

The big but..... after a few bottles of wine peoples memory is not so good. The truth is far easier to remember, but lies get forgotten. The accounts start to get confused, people forget their "role" in the story of the evening and they start to contradict each other. Since they started tripping themselves up there's been silence.

As long as the tapas 9 remain tight lipped they reduce the risk of being rumbled and social services getting involved, so the conspiracy of silence remains with little for police or social services to act upon.

Obviously this is something Social Services has to investigate, not in Portugal, but here in the U.K. The so called, friends ,of the McCanns probably couldn't be bothered to ask just WHO was looking after the McCanns children,or perhaps they knew that they had been abandoned, then clue must have been when Gerry left ,every half hour ,to check on the kids. And if they did know that the children had been left alone what sort of SCUM does that make them?

Because the united states is the only country that social services works in because in european countries they dont seem interested . Social services will never be involved because of the fact that they have money . Social services only goes after ppl who dont have alot of money . good luck .

it is becoming clearer that in their group, there were other doctors/medical professionals who also left their children unattended.
that's why they eagerly covered for one another, they were all as equally to blame for not paying more attention to being responsible parents, than attending quiz night, then wining & dining at a bar yards away.
yes the lot of them need to be investigated.
