Tragic event with noone to blame but the psycho who did it, but where I live, there are many people who legally possess and carry concealed firearms. Citizens who are responsible and well trained in their use. Now even with a permit, it is illegal to carry a firearm in places such as schools, but generally speaking it is situations like this that make it more apparent to me that those of us who are responsible and feel the need to should consider carrying a firearm.

I would just like to know... This guy had the chance to kill 30 people because there was no alarm or warning to any students... and innocent people died because of this lack of attention to a obvious serious issue.

This stupid had over two hours to plan his second attack... and according to the news... if he would not have killed him self... more people could have died.

It just makes me very upset to see how can anyone not pay attention to a double murder and think of it as a serious issue to set the alarms... PEOPLE DIED BECAUSE THE STUPIDITY OF A FEW

This man was not an American citizen, but only here on a Visa. He was a Korean alien, right? So how does a non-American here on a visa get access to lawfully buying guns in our country?

I checked out this website:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18148802/?GT1=9246

It clearly states that Cho Seung Hui had receipts for the guns he purchased. What gun shop sold him the guns, and why would our government allow non-citizens to buy guns when they're only here on a visa?

Whose fault is this?

The US military has been caught red handed shooting at and killing journalists deliberately in Iraq.

They do this to intimidate International journalists who would expose American murders of innocent Iraqis to the world.

America learned the free press was thier enemy in Vietnam as it exposed all their war crimes to the worldon TV for the first time and they promised Iraq would be different.

Any wonder we barely get any reporting from Iraq and when we do its always within the cover of US troops so they can behave good on camera and look respectful to Iraqis for teh audience back home in the US.

Its a very carefully crafted charade by the US military and the average joesixpack is none the wiser.

America is neither free nor is there free speech. It wont be long till Yahoo deletes my account now, they already have deleted 3 of my previous accts for speaking my mind and posting anti US posts....... Americans cant handle the truth, because they are so fed lies by their media.

.even hunting. i don’t think there is reason to carry any type of gun, un less you are working with the law, its too easy to get a gun today. i know about the background checks, but its possible for someone to go insane, think of all the deaths that would be prevented. i know that ( for safety reasons ) some people carry them, but there are waaaay more people using them to kill people in fights and all. please give your opinion.

High schools and colleges not dealing with peer pressure, family problems, financial issues and telling student that there future are at stake without giving them the skills to cope.

I feel that students need more student services in high school and colleges. High school students need services like personal counseling, financial aid, etc. And colleges need more personal counseling and financial help. Both institutions need more intervention in stress management and life skills development.

yes, if students or the teachers carried guns all the time, the killer may have been stopped early, but you people keep glossing over the fact that many more than 33 people would be killed by accidental fire and whatnot if everyone carried guns all the time. the smallest disputes can become deadly when someone has spur-of-the-moment access to firearms, and something that would have ended in maybe a fistfight ends in a funeral or two. so think about that before you make it "mandatory" for all teachers to carry guns.

I am just curious as how an illegal alien has the same Constitutional Rights that I have as an American. If they are here illegally then they are not Americans. If we afford them these rights then why are they not in jail for breaking the law in the first place by coming here illegally. Also the goverment in all of their wisdom is deciding on a vote to give these illegal aliens social security benifits. First how are they intitled to these benifits when they have not contributed to social security. Second, where is the goverment planning on taking this money from? Our already stressed Social Security? What is going to happen if this occurs. You and your children will not have benifits or the amount of benifits you should have had because now a percentage of your money is going to someone who is here illegally.

Actual text reads "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Can someone explain why Americans think that this mean regular citizens have the right to keep weapons in their home? The amendment clearly states that the right to bear arms is only for the purpose of maintaining a Militia (to defend out country against invasion). So if you're not part of the Official US Militia, you should not be allowed to own a weapon. And nowhere in the amendment does it say you have the right to keep a weapon in your house.

A Militia keeps their weapons in a centrally located arms depot, and when the country is invaded by outsiders, the Milita goes to this central depot, collects their personal weapon(s) and defends the country.

Can someone expalin why this is so difficult for Americans to understand? And maybe why it's so difficult for lawmakers and law enforcement persons to understan

I just finished reading numerous article on the Virginia Tech shootings. I read this one article on how the various Universities across the country were coming up with ways to inform their students quicker about warnings and updates. This article also breifly mentioned security in Universities. I'm surprised that after what we've seen in this counrty and through out the would over the past 10 years wehavn't thpught of this sooner. (I'm talking about terrorist attacs and deadly storms...) It seems, that only the "victims" of such attacks are taking the proper precautions, but other institutions just don't bother. I have a 2 part question:
1. What are your thouhts on this?
2. What are your ideas about security measures and "notification systems" in Universities. I have y ideas but I as curious to know what other people thought.

If the laws were changed and you could carry side arms, (pistol like law enforcement), would you? This would not be open to all citizens like in the old west. You would have to take a physiological evaluation every year and undergo training with this weapon just like law enforcement. Be issued a badge and become a NON PAID acting deputy.

Why would this idiot blame such a tragedy on videogames even though they hadn't identified the shooter yet?
Does he use public tragedies to push his own agenda?
What should be his punishment for making such ignorant, baseless claims, and trying to play on people's pains?

As a gamer, I am aggravated that he would oversimplify such a tragedy: "Oh, the shooter played video games. Video games are violent. Videogames killed everybody in VaTech."

They didn't identify the killer yet! What should we do about this douchebag who only has his own agenda in mind?

First of all, my gravest condolences to any and all people and families who were affected by the shooting at Virginia Tech on the morning of Monday, April 16. My prayers go out to all of you and those who were killed. However, that's not what this question is about.

After watching a lot of the news coverage focused on the VT shooting, I've heard a few brief interviews with students, some of whom demonstrated great courage in the face of danger - helping others' wounds, holding down the doors to keep the shooter out, etc. There are also students who managed to find a way out of harm's way as soon as possible.

There is no shame in either of these acts; I admire one just as much as I admire the other. However, being a full-time University student myself, this really got me thinking: What would I do in that kind of situation?

Of course, there's no substitute for real life, but in any case, what do you think you would have done if you were placed in a situation like that?
