bush said because 'they hate our way of life, and our freedoms' ... thats the biggest load of bull ever. why can't ppl of the world understand and see the facts ....

first of all i don't think the terrorists hate americans .. i think they hate american policies and the american government. not the people. there is a HUGE difference.

american government, secret intelligencies (CIA) etc. have been involved in numerous amounts of operations in other countries, sticking their noses in where they don't belong, all on the pretext that they are offering humanitary aid. yeah sure they do that, but they also have other agendas.... hmm... like toppling governments that don't see eye to eye with them.

american government also supports israel by giving them american tax-payer money ... and military weapons, and industrial machines that are used to demolish the homes of palestinians.

it has nothing to do with way of life and freedoms .. but everything to do with being two-faced, having double standards and agendas, lying to the masses, etc. etc. etc. -- too many to list.

my proposal is this, if the american govt never made any bases in saudi .. or kuwait .. or anywhere in the middle east ... do u think the 'terrorists' al qaida or anyone else would be out to kill the 'american infidels' ???? NOPE ...

and if england and the UN never allowed the jews to come to Palestine ... there would be NO 'suicide bombings' over there either .... so the actions are all reactionary .... they were caused by an external catalyst .... whether or not they are reacting in a sane way or not .. is not for me to decide .. they are in their situations .. and nobody can judge them unless they are in their shoes. -- when a father sees his home demolished , his baby with bullets in her body ... or his wife or daughter being murdered or raped .... obviously he'll go crazy ... and violence begets violence ...... so he'll react .. the only way he knows how.

its not a religious problem .. its a social problem .. a political one.

I am just horrified by what seems to be their negligence for two hours. Of course no one knows if lives could have been saved. But what's wrong with an ABUNDANCE of caution when you know there's a murderer on the loose?

I just got home from school a little while ago, and I found out there was a shooting. Can someone give me a few more details? (ie. What exactly happened, did they find a motive, etc.?) I'm shocked; I didn't expect another Columbine. D=

At least 33 dead in rampage at Virginia college
15 others at Virginia Tech wounded in worst mass shooting in U.S. history

A spokesman for the FBI in Washington said there was no immediate evidence to suggest that the incident was a terrorist attack, “but all avenues will be explored.” ? Sounds like a terrorist attack to me. What do you think?

I have been watching the news concerning the Virginia Tech shootings, and CNN had a question about attending Tech in the future. On h.s. senior responded and said that no way would she attend Tech. Why doesn't she understand that the same thing could happen at any university?

Why did the gunman do that?

Columbine: Those kids did it because they were being bullied... but what made this person go out on a shooting spree???????

i keep seeing a lot of answers being that there is a lack of gun control but just because one has access to something doesnt make that the cause for doing something so drastic.. there must have been some other reasons behind this...

I would attend because the likelyhood of lightning striking twice is less then it happening once.I must congratulate those involved in this shooting and, though I am disgusted by those who kill others without giving them a chance to defend themselves or fight on an even playing field( if this was the case, there would be fewer altercations), I am amazed with the simplistic complexity of their attack. The diversion which attracted police forces slightly farther away from their "ground zero" than they would have been if they had been at the police station (mapquest) and disrupting communications( the chaos of the police dealing with people at the dorm( sight of the first two murders) was brilliant.Well, the shooter has been giving his 15 and props.Hopefully he will burn in hell. Cheers. My condolences to VT atendees who have lost a loved one or are connected in any way.Remember to thank your hurt or deseased loved ones or peers who have propelled your career through sympathy. Sorry "ABC"

Ok, as I understood the college president and police chief at the press conference, they interviewed people at the Dorm building

WHY??? They said they "had reason to believe he had left the campus and perhaps even the state". So they "secured the building". The President said it wouldn't make sense to lock down the whole campus because thousands of students were "in transit" to class.

This is really weird.

a) If they interviewed people and they had "reason to believe" what the shooter's motives were, why don't they tell us they know who he is? Clearly someone in that dorm recognized him.
b) Why only "secure the building" when the only thing you're sure of is that he's NOT IN THE BUILDING????
c) If thousands of students were in transit, why not send out a message, make a radio broadcast, do whatever to tell people to TRANSIT AWAY FROM THE CAMPUS SINCE THERE IS A GUNMAN ON THE LOOSE!?!?!!?

Instead, they waited until the shooter was dead to send out their first email. Brilliant.

I don't think there is.
But i guess there's a question of faith in humanity in there --- it's kinda like asking, will everlasting peace ever be obtained? Or, will there always be evil people in the world?
It's something that goes beyond political strategies and government programs and anti-bullying classes. There's just NO way you can ensure school safety.

automatic weapons make it a heck of a lot easier?

Seriously, if you are stabbing someone with a knife, or beating them to death, the violence is right there in your face. How much damage could one psychopath do?

Is large scale violence (like that of today) just a consequence of the separation from violence that guns can give someone?

It's like a video game. They shoot someone, they may see little blood and just fall to the floor. It must be easier for these shooters to make no real connection to the suffering.

The media is all over the Virginia Tech people not doing enough after the first shooting when in fact they did email the students about the situation. Clearly no one could forsee this mad man going into a lecture hall and slaughtering these poor people. Did they do enough to protect the students?

Pull a gun on someone in public then all of a sudden every man, woman and child is pointing theirs at you.

It will put an end to shootings like this. :) He woulda been shot before he got out of the Dorm after the first shooting.

What happened was awful, could it have been prevented?

2007-04-16 09:51:56 · 11 answers · asked by Anonymous

Even if it were against the law to have a gun, they would still be accessible. Just like drugs are....they're illegal but people still get them everyday. So if guns were illegal and you wanted one bad enough you could get one on the street.
What happened this morning is tragic, but I wish everyone would stop trying to find someone to blame this on. The only one we can blame this on is the one who done it and he is DEAD now so let God deal with him and everyone chill on the Blame Game.
