I know its still a long ways away but I wonder would this shooting have an impact on the summer Olympics in China in 2008...possibly a different view of the Chinese people now? (For your info..the shooter is believed to be Chinese/Chinese American).

A similar massacre to the Virginia massacre occured in Australia in 1996. 35 people were shot-dead by a mad-man. Prior to this occuring numerous other masacres had occured regularly in Australia (much like we see in the U.S.)....

The 1996 Australian incident (which was the worst single-shooter massacre in the world) led to a great change in Australia's gun laws. It is now time for America to look at doing the same..... Guns are bad and have a negative impact on society..... The American homicide rate far outnumbers that of other western countries something needs to be done...

Ever since guns laws have been tightened in Australia such events do not occur and gun violance has significantly fallen....

They discovered two dead bodies due to gunshots. in this day and age with so many incidents of school shootings how could they have treated the situation so casuallyand allow these kids to freely roam the campus after the initial incident? firings and lawsuits? i do not mean to lose sight of the fact that over 30 people are dead but this incident smells of inexcusable negligence.

Al contends that we are destroying the world with our carbon footprints. I have been looking for days and cannot find any carbon at all! Why is Mars heating up at the same rate as Earth? NASA confirms this is true and it has been going on for a long time. P.T. Barnum sold the Brooklyn Bridge to immigrants for a toll road time after time. Al appears to look like a conman, behave like a conman, demand attention like a conman and even slicks his hair like a conman. Are we being conned by Al Gore, alias "Chicken Little". Remember this is the same man that invented the internet and wandered the world with a scraggly beard trying to find himself. I think he found the Wizard of Oz and reenvented himself in the Wiz's likeness.

Please expound on this irrational subject with some objectivite! Al has a decent wife so please refrain from name calling. No racist or gender bashing either! Oh, by the way, no words that insult GOD knows who or major or minority groups!

I keep seeing people criticizing the authorities, the VT president, the police. Yes, the situation could have been handled better, but why do you feel the need to take anger out on those people? They were doing the best they could with the information and resources they had. How many of you were actually there? It's easy to say "well they should've done this and should've done that" while you're sitting in front of your computer. Can you imagine the chaos that was occurring, all the conflicting reports and rumors? We don't even have all the details yet and people wanna point fingers at everyone else. The shooter is the only one responsible for those people's deaths and people need to calm down with the blame game until all the details are clear.

With all of the news happening and stuff, am I the ONLY person here who thinks the school failed somewhere?

Okay right after the SECOND shooting, the school sent out an EMAIL saying that there was an incident and people should stay "cautious".

About 45 minutes AFTER that email, they sent out the other one saying that there was a shooting and they need to stay put.

All of the kids intervied on news networks say that they had NO clue whatsoever that the first shooting happened and they all went to class like a normal day until they heard shots and saw people running out of the hall.

Does anyone else here think that something more could have been done? I am SURE that enough people could spread the word, ESPECIALLY since the school had been receiving BOMB THREATS ALREADY. what the hell man.

I think that theres going to be some families suing that school big time for not letting these kids know they need to go someplace safe.

Why do people think puting metal detectors in public high schools will stop gun shootings? I mean instead of pulling out the gun outside the school, you just pull it out 2 feet before you get to the front of the school........ we debated this is class and everyone disagreed with me. Why would you waste millions, possibly billions? of dollars to give people false security. does anyone have a dissenting opinion?

I was wondering who you guys should be at fault for the tragic event at Virginia Tech. Now i know a very large portion should be blamed on the actual shooter himself, but how much should be on the US government? I always hear about gun conventions and such and what else amazes me is how easy it is to buy a firearm at places such as uncle sam's and even walmart. It's as easy as getting candy from ben franklin's candy store! i am not for guns, i feel that if all guns are banned, there shouldn't be a fear of someone breaking in with a gun. in that case just use a good ole bat to crack their head open. another thing i must point out is all of the violence shown on television. my former german teacher explained how violence is not shown on german tv until very late at night so kids are not exposed to it and become immune. i see kids blowing off people's heads on video games and have no remorse at all. should the gov't take steps such as banning firearms or even program violent tv?

Taliban now controls more than 1/2 of Afghanistan and the USA & UK forces are clearly not in control in Iraq with mounting losses, and no end game. I am reminded of the Soviet occupation in Afghanistan. ...Time to get out before it gets humiliating?

Do you guys think that anyone who went to Comlumbine high school and experienced the shooting goes to VTech and has to deal with this one now? That would suck. Dude, what if the guy who shot them all went to columbine.

When do you think classes will resume on the Virginia Tech campus. (I am assuming they have cancelled classes for tommorow.) I know of all the questions surrounding this tragedy, this one may be somewhat insensitive, but I was thinking about how I would feel if I was one of the students on that campus, and I am sure class, classwork, responsibilities would be so far from my mind. I would imagine that some would suggest they continue daily campus life as normal to help people cope, but I could also imagine some students just not being able to cope. This is so close to the end of a semester...what are they going to do...especially for those students who can't bear to continue the last week or so of the semester. Colleges tend to be very technical when it comes to passing classes and graduation, but this is weeks away from graduation for some. How do you think that will be handled?

(Sorry if I am coming off insensitive. Trust me, I am actually too sensitive.)

I know it sounds simplisitic, but I feel very strongly that evil must be destroyed. How is it that the Virginia Tech shooter can walk about, unrecognized for the evil monster that he was? Are we too focused on own lives to notice?

I know some of you oppose the death penalty, but I believe it is just in exceptional cases. If he had been captured alive, I would have been willing to execute him without qualms nor hesitation.

I am not a Don Imus fan by any means....but every time a situation comes up in which Al Sharpton can be put in front of the camera to tout his double-standard racist point of view, it makes me sick. He is one of the most racist and race-hate provoking individuals of our time.

ARMENIANS killed 500.000 Turks, after 700 years of friendship, they turned against their neighbors, sided with Russians and even today they are Russia's best friend, and they won't open their archives to study group, afraid of the real truth. just 15 years ago they have massacred 1000"s of azeri people in kohjali, and occupied their land,it was condemn by United Nations, now they think if they unite their people under the POOR ME PITY ME approach they think they will isolate Turkey and will ask for compensations($50 billion).they are surrounded by 110 million Turks but yet still they fill their children's heads with hatred of Turks, they have formed their unity over hatred of Turks, like harant Dink said it is a poison in their blood. They will never succeed,Turkey has 8Th ranking army in the World,I hope it won't come to that.so I say to all the haters STOP and get over it it was more than 80 years ago.
