No. They need to fire the head of security who allowed 2 hours to pass without doing anything. To say he thought the situation was under control is absurd. No weapons, no suspect in custody and he thinks he has control? The President relied on information from people he trusted, his only responsibility now is to get rid of the incompetents under him and make an action plan for the future. All schools need to re-evaluate their emergency plans. If this happens again then those school Presidents should be held responsible.

Absolutely not! The man has done a great job at the school and has many people there that support him. They were dealing with a premediated crime and was not aware there was a diabolical scene being played out. This was a well planned and executed plan of cold blooded murder. When all the facts come out we may be startled to find out how this mad man's mind was working.
The president is an honorable and valuable person on that campus and will be needed. I am a resident of VA and know many students who have attended there. Virginia Tech ranks very high among universities in America and we are hurting for them and do not want to find scapegoats. If this turns out to be a terrorist act and it sounds like one a different picture will emerge.

No he should not. If you go to the VT homepage and click on the timeline you can see exactly what was done. Police were investigating and interviewing a person of interest within 15 minutes and the committe was meeting with the chief within an hour. From there the email was sent out (which would take time to write, get to the person who could send it out to the entire campus, because Im sure there are only a handful of people who have the authority and ability to do that). Also many people who didn't live on campus were arriving for 8 am classes. How do you safely lock down people in cars??

Hey people, why hasn't every act of violence in the history of man not been prevented? The benefit of hindsight shows us how preventable every act of violence is, including this one.
The cops didn't lock everything down because it appeared that the first incident was isolated. How many times has there been an act of violence that wasn't followed two hours later by another one? They had no reason to believe this psycho would come back and kill some more because they weren't operating under the same rules as he was. You can't have a 100% effective contingency plan when there are psychotics roaming this planet. That sucks but that's the way it is.
Blaming gives the talking heads something to talk about. It fills airtime. I cringe at the thought of how the ripples of this incident will cause so much over reaction in the future.

Why does there always have to be someone who's head has to roll after a tragedy? The Virginia Tech President did nothing wrong beyond happening to be the Viginia Tech President when somebody else loses it and massacres 32 innocent people. Every issue does not call for a pound of flesh.

How difficult would it have been to put VA Tech on lock down at 7 AM this morning after the FIRST shooting?
It would've been different if they had a suspect, but if a college campus has 2 MURDERS and then no suspect in custody, why in the world would you let college kids get together in small class rooms w/a shooter on the loose?
Seriously people, I'm no genius, but it does not take one to realize how bad the VA Tech administration and police effed up today, someone had better be getting fired.

First enable me say that their are 15,000 pupils at that distinctive college, 4,000 in the dorm, and 11,000 who stay off campus. Virginia Tech the day previous had a Press convention on Fox information, and between the government (there have been 3), and that i do no longer understand his call stated that they do have a protection gadget, by digital mail, and different technical ability. even though the time that the incidents surpassed off, became into in the A.M. while the pupils have been commuting. while they did arrive they felt that it became into suitable to lock down while they did arrive. definitely on the time of the information convention they have been nevertheless doing the examine of the witnesses, and that they did no longer have all the solutions yet. That stated, i've got confidence they might desire to have metallic detectors as they do on the airports, and that i.D. enjoying cards (ones that can not be counterfeited), as they are making plans to do with Passports in the USA. Secondly while an incident does ensue they might desire to have a noisy siren like they do in Israel, and different countries in the time of conflict time alerting human beings to go into their shelters. That wll alert people who're commuting. For those that dorm they might desire to have a PA gadget put in. those are the only measures that i will think of of, different than for strickter gun administration rules. actuality to tell, it incredibly is unlucky yet in spite of measures are put in it type of feels that as quickly as a deranged person, or a terrotist is set to harm human beings regrettably they continually discover the thank you to artwork around any protection gadget this is put in. it incredibly is type of a no win situation, yet we would desire to do what we would desire to do no matter what. G-d would desire to help those families, to have the skill to beat the tragedy of dropping a chlld.

Look at this way... If a someone gets raped on campus no person should be able to walk around... If someone gets hit by a car on campus no one should walk around. The school had no idea what was going on. The police said it was isolated incident. He made a bad judgment call. But people make it each day. People drive drunk, people do drugs, people keep others.. If there was a shooting some where in your community would the police walk around and say NO ONE LEAVE THEIR HOMES! Because I have had people stabbed 5 minutes from my house, a block away. The 4 suspects weren't caught, no one came to warn us.
Bad judgment call. But I think that everyone should understand that he made a mistake... What about all the principals at the other schools that have had school shootings?

No, there is no reason he should resign. He did not do anything wrong. He did the best he could under the circumstances. Everyone is not a hero. Should he have known that the idiot killer would continue his rampage after the first incident? How would he have known that?
I bet the President is darn near suicidal after the events today. I bet he had to take a pill to get any sleep tonight. heck, I'm still up and it's after 1AM. I cannot even imagine what he's going through.
Resign? I think not.

Hindsight is always perfect.
You have no proof that the president of the school was calling the shots. No pun intended but usually the police takes over right away. Who had the jurisdiction and made the decisions?
Maybe some lessons can be learned. I think everybody is just as curious to know why it had gone as far as it did.
