That's all that's playing on the TV now is coverage about that. Will this push people who are close to the edge already to start shooting up people ?

hi, after recent tragic events in virginia...wouldnt you americans feel safer if your people were not allowed to own guns? this incident is not the first of its kind in your country, so you must be worried. i can honestly say, from the rest of the world - that our hearts our with you.

i live in england and we are not allowed to own guns at all. we still have crime, but nothing like the gun crime in the u.s.a. what do you think about it - do you think you should give up your rights to own a gun? and does owning a gun...make you feel safe?

i'd be very interested in knowing what you think...and my thoughts are definately with your bereaved families.

How would you go about collecting the hundreds of thousands of guns that are out there in the hands of criminals today? Do you honestly think that the criminals who have the countless unresgistered weapons (the weapons that are used in 90% of crimes) will turn them over because you banned them? Do you honestly think that if guns were banned that Cho Seung-Hui would have willingly given up his guns and not stormed into that school like a maniac-killing people, just because guns were banned?
The guns are out there people, and they are in the hands of criminals. Exactly how would you get them out of their hands? And why do you want to take them out of the hands of law abiding citizens who only want to protect themselves and their families? If guns were banned, thats what would happen. People like me would not be allowed to own guns. Criminals would still have the guns.

Did Anybody in here have friends or family members from Virginia Tech?

so we all have found out that the the shooter is South Korean. so what? now people are blaming it on race. I think that is absolutely ridiculous and absurd.

this has NOTHING to do with race. It had to do with his mental condition and his personal life.

but some people in this world are so shallow they are now talking garabage about south koreans, asians, etc and think that just because the shooter was south korean and what he did, now all the south koreans will do the same...even with the talks of immigration policies?

i mean, how in the world does this case has anything to do with race or immigration?

if the shooter was white as white out what would the shallow people blame it on?

I understand that the constitution right gives the US people right to bear firearm, but it really give people easy access to firearm to do bad thing. Or not? Based on the statistics from news: "Handguns are completely illegal in Britain, which recorded only 46 homicides involving firearms all of last year. By contrast there were 579 gun homicides last year in New York City alone."

I am watching this as I write, and I am surprised that they are having a "service" 24 hours later... isn't that a bit soon? I mean, some family members could barely get a flight that quickly, and being busy with funeral arrangements probably can't all make it to this service. It is surprising to me that the President is there and this was all arranged within 24 hours of it happening. Amazing what can be done so fast... I just feel that people have barely grasped what has happened yet, and already they are having this service, it seems too soon to me, what do YOU think? p.s what a sad sad day it was yesterday, I am really grieving for all the friends and family that are left to cope with the aftermath and losses.

called "Catholic Charities" which has been in existence for a
very long time? This is resulting from a lawsuit filed by someone (probably against a Catholic priest.) This is just
another example of a world going into chaos. This organization did so much good for people.

as we all know, imus got fired for his remark. whether he deserved it or not is not the issue.

but what puzzles me is why he got fired but kamau kambon did not.

kambon is a black studies professor at howard university who made a comment live on c-span that the solution to the black problem is to exterminate all white people off the face of the earth.

so let me get this straight. it's ok for a black man to call for the murder of an entire race of people, but if a white man dares to call them a name, he loses his job?

The media is notorious for leaving out details that could indicate terrorism. For instance out of dozens of news reports and articles I've read on the VTech shootings, only two mentioned what was written on the shooter's arm. "Ismail Ax" was written in red letters on his arm. Coincidence? What do you think?

I find it disturbing that on the same day terrorism struck Virginia Tech and America by way of a mass slaughter of 32 innocent people, sporting events went on as usual. should have the pro sports leagues have postponed games for at least a week, like they did after 9/11? I did not feel like watching a ball game after witnessing a tragedy unfold on TV on a comparable scale to September 11th 2001. This is a time for America and the world to reflect and come together, not for meaningless playoff chases and home run records. This is the worst act of terrorism on U.S. soil since 9/11.I use the word terrorism because terrorism can take on different forms. I would appreciate your views on this subject.

This question/statement is not originally mine but I thought I would state it to see the point of view and logic behind other people's reasoning. My take on reciprocal killing or the death penalty is that whether through a criminal justice sytem or in a war an eye for an eye unfortunatley many times leads for other's eyes for eyes even if innocent. It can breed rage, and vengeance which many believe (but do not practice) is reserved for the Lord. If we have faith, those who believe in mercy in any way, why do we look to hurt our enemies? Was not Saul a killer?

I understand that there are other "issues," of course, that play into this -- and some of these should at some point be addressed.

However, it saddens me the way some people are jumping on this tragedy -- using for an excuse to push their personal/political agenda.

Whether it's video game violence, gun control, or immigration issues ... why can't people just understand this is truly about some messed up guy senselessly killing people?

Is this bothering anyone else?

I don't understand this attitude of 'more guns will prevent gun crime'. It is absolutely insane! I can't imagine living in a place where ANY crazy can get their hands on a lethal weapon. Ok, so outlawing guns doesn't mean some people will still get their hands on them, but most of the people who do will be part of gangs and criminal outfits and not likely to go on random killing sprees in schools and universities. There will also be less accidents, less domestic violence that ends in someone pulling a gun in the ehat of the moment and shooting someone, less kids having accidents.... There are substantially less gun related crime or accidents in countries that make guns illegal. That's a fact. So why are so many people reacting to this mass shooting with the opinion that EVERY citizen should be armed? It is the sickest, most backward, most irrational, crazy stupid, ignorant, dangerous opinion, showing the most heinous disregard for human life. ANYONE agree?

Would you return the next semester, knowing how poorly the school handled the situation, and how little they did to stop it? Granted, no one is prepared for situations like this when they happen, but freakin' elementary schools have practice lockdowns for dealing with "code greens". Why did they think an e-mail was enough crisis response? And after the guy left, why didn't they try to find him? There are just a lot of questions that school needs to answer, I think.

Yesterday there was a tragedy at Virginia Tech. Today some people are talking about suing the school for financial damages for poor security, and the people who are suing are people who are students that were not killed in that horrific shooting. So I would like to know why some people always have to file a lawsuit. I think these people should stay out of it and let the victim's families get over their losses. What do you think?

We need to do more to keep firearms off the streets and out of the hands of criminals. I'm not saying ban all the guns, but we should seriously look at the Virginia Tech shootings and think about what could of been done at the federal, state, and local level to prevent this from happening.

It should be a discussion for all Americans to get in on. Maniacs do not discriminate between liberals and conservatives when they kill. We need to figure out how we can prevent the next Virginia Tech or Columbine from happening.

So I've been reading about this student and it soulds as thou the school is aware of his depression and had problems with some of his writings in writing class that he was refered to a counselor..now if they are aware of this, and it comes to be that he mentions odd things in his writings which gave clues straight up will the school be responsible for this for not doing something about this student, of course no one knows who in the world is going to snap because anyone would have to snap like this to do seomthing like this which he did but if they come to find out what could happen anyway?
