I never heard of that, but then again, stuff like that does not make the news the way it does when a white person insults a black person. Even if the white person made no threats to the black person's safety. If anything at all was done to kambom, Al Sharpton would have been crying 'foul" and saying that the man's right to "free speech" was invaded. There also is the likelihood that there would be riots, since certain groups of people are known to riot whenever they do not get their way.

Great question! I did not hear the interview with Kamau Kambon. In what context was the question asked and answered?
Prejudice is all around us on many different levels. It's in the way we talk, it's in our music, our literature, our art. We say things all the time without thinking about how it affects others. How often do you hear women called bit---? How often do you hear someone or some thing called gay? How often in the days of equal opportunity do you still hear stuff about us against them.
Unfortunately, we tend to try to group people into categories that we either like or hate. Are they men, women, Christian, Muslim, Jew, red, yellow, black, white, Korean or Mexican or WASP? It's when we know people as individuals that we truly become incensed to such nonsense as name calling. It's the individual that makes a difference not the group. As individuals there are consequences for the choices we make. Imus is only one of many who need to face the music.

That's what I'm talking about! I know several black, Mexican and American Indians who are more racist than any white person ever thought about being. It's a shame that it's okay for 'minorities' to hold racist views, but not white people. I don't have a shred of racism in me, therefore I do not condone racism, but it's a shame that there are 2 sets of standards when it comes to racism. Racism is racism, whether it comes from a white person, black person or Asian or another race of people!

hi,
Kambon has no right to say what he said. someone should look into that. racism is racism it makes no difference what kind of racism it is be it Black or White, Asian or Islamic it makes no difference. Kambon should have been fired for that as well.

As you have already surmised you have recognized a stereotype!
Racism, I believe, is so much an instinct. The only way to end this ersatz belief system is by some kind of educational setting with an all-group participation. This needs to be an ongoing system.
What would that be?

Who are you expecting to enforce it?
Imus' employers decided they didn't want him after that. Whether or not Kambon retains his job is at Howard's discretion. You make it sound like this is a free speech issue. It's not. The govt hasn't stepped in at all on this, nor should it.

the two your an marvelous troll or an entire fool who's so blinded by using her ideology she cant see that the two components lie. in basic terms take care of it try staring at the two and making your guy or woman opinion. NAACP is already lower back pedaling so i cant see them doing something enormous contained in the subsequent couple of months or much extra of the evil "whites" will hate them for his or her persevered racism. I do ask your self what might ensue if a fox commentator reported as Obama a Chimp like Olberman reported approximately bush? individually i think of it would be humorous as hell to work out the hypocritical out cries of racism yet it particularly is in basic terms me. Please stay at school yet another couple of years, and take a examine out taking a civics direction or perchance a elementary criminal justice or Poli sci they clarify freedom of speech especially plenty.

It could be the upbringing of that particular individual in question. Believe me i was once a racist person, but seeing an incident at a nearby subway one day changed my ife forever. My parents were racists and living with them i tend to think and be like them but when you are a adolescent and you have had break from the family you tend to see the world at you own pace and time. Now i refraim from being racist even though my family members laugh at me once in a while. It is all in the head and the environment. Why do you think there are people with differnt agendas and motives!

Because Black people are 'victims' for atrocities that took place before they were even born. Therefore, they get to say what they like about white people, while a white person who looks at a Black person wrong gets called a 'racist'.
Makes perfect sense to me!

The rartionale is that since these folks are inheritors of a racist society, their speech is protected and even encouraged in order to vent their frustrations in a world that treats them so unfairly.
I personally see the fact that they are allowed to say the things they say and not be lynched says a lot about how non racist the system is. That will always be the obstical of thes kinds of guys...if the system is so bad, how are you allowed to have a voice in such an oppressive system with no repercussions?
