The media is always there when tragedy happens. That is their feeding frenzy. Not sure what you could replace the media with. As long as people watch and it sells newspapers, yellow journalism will never die.

This is how media alway covered crimes, shooting rampages. Right up front where action is if possible.
I can tell you there will be more complains if news organizations stay at desk all day reading news to you. They're job is to get much info, footage, sounds...etc as possible. So that people will get info they want or need and if they don't like it they can just turn the TV off.
Media's job is to go out and get info. You decide what's appropriate and not appropriate.
You will be angrier if they decide what you should be allowed to see or not see.
NBC don't come to your house and force you to watch their coverage. Or do they?

There are two sides to this. One on hand, no one wants to watch their loved ones on television like this. You are right to question it. BUT... equally no one wants their loved ones to be injured or to die in vain. If the media glosses over what happened, then the event will get swept under the rug. You know it will. People NEED to be aware of what is going on, including as much of the graphic vision of it as is possible without crossing the line into gore-fest. Knowing the seriousness of the situation forces us to recognize the problem and cope with it. Hiding the blood and bodies only lowers the impact of the situation, and results in less people giving a crap what happens. The media is definitely doing their job in this case.

NO. Respect MUST be shown to the dead and injured. It's odd how the military makes a big deal about showing prisoners in the media but the news has no standards of respect, or shows any compassion for humans. The problem is that blood, guts and gore sell. And the more carnage you can show moves your Nielsen ratings up.

No. I think they should have some decency and sensitivity and not air footage like that. But all they care about are ratings. You may also want to ask how you would feel if it were your loved ones to the person who posted this:
"Will Viginia Tech be serving mystery meat in the cafeteria tomorrow?
I was just wondering."
I would have provided a link to the question but I don't know how to do that. I'm appalled by how some people are completely lacking in sensitivity and decent human feelings.

I would be very scared and sad, they have to get the people out - they are trying to save people. I would feel better if I saw my loved one talking, screaming or moving - at least I would know they were alive. The media takes it to the highest level that they can, if they could film the actual shooting they would do it.

Well, many of us want more realism. It's time to open your eyes and look at the real world. Stop hiding behind fantasy.

It's the job of the media to cover events like this... just like they did at Kent State 36yrs ago.
Sound like you want the news censored to suit your aesthetic taste.... Republican?
Btw, only in America do we have these school shootings.
