Taliban now controls more than 1/2 of Afghanistan and the USA & UK forces are clearly not in control in Iraq with mounting losses, and no end game. I am reminded of the Soviet occupation in Afghanistan. ...Time to get out before it gets humiliating?

It's not winnable. It never was. It was started on a lie and will probably be ended on one too. Ever since Abu Graib, the US has been considered worse than Saddam - the US has still not grasped the enormous insult it has inflicted on the islamic sensibilities. Bombing wedding, women and children doesn't help either. I can hear the term 'Peace with honor' in the distance...

My opinion:

I am one who does not believe the war was begun with a lie - ours was not the only intelligence that said Saddam had WMDs. We know that Saddam gassed his own people, we saw them lying on the mountainside, he did not provide proof of the destruction of the remainder of the chemicals as directed by the U.N, and did not allow inspections for 4 years.

I believe that the WMDs/chemicals are buried somewhere in Iraq or were transported out during the 4 years of non-inspections. We can only pray that we find them before the terrorists.

Happy or contented people do not become terrorists. They have careers, or families -- a life. All I see is hundreds of men with no jobs running around waving guns. With a democracy, work, and families, they would no desire to terrorize.

Obama might go through a political defeat if he pulled out the troops right this moment because of the fact the terrorists might take over the rustic like earlier and we've a sparkling Saddam Hussein ( no relation to Barack Hussein Obama) and the artwork, fulfillment, and progression made could be lost. The hundreds that died on 9/11 and the squaddies who gave their lives for the duration of the conflict could be for no longer something. it could be like saying, "My political acceptance is in simple terms extra significant".

This war is my generation's Vietnam. How soon they forget how it is to fight an unwinnable war. The middle east has been in civil/religious unrest for generations. This war isn't going to change this.

But bless the soldiers...I might not support the war, but I support the troops. Semper Fi =)

It is time. Past time.
But I am so afraid we will lose so many because the heads will not handle it right. Like Korea.
