I fail to see how soldiers in Iraq have anything to do with the shooting at VT. If they were in the US they would not have been called up. That's what the police are for.

You must be very confused or very stupid. First, they aren't allowed to do police work inside the U.S. The founding fathers didn't think it would be wise to have the Army going around fixing domestic problems, like, for example, Hitler did. And just how could this particular tragedy have been stopped? I would imagine your first answer would be to ban guns. If you pay attention to the facts as they come to light, you might notice that none of the students had anything to shoot back with, as they were obeying the law. The only guy with a gun was the bad guy. The Killer was armed. The innocent weren't. Guns are here to stay, illegal or not. He could have used a bomb to kill himself instead of a gun and still taken a lot of people with him. Like the guys the soldiers in Iraq are dealing with. The killer in Virginia didn't care if his crime ended with his death. Unless the government can know all and see all, including who you are and what you are thinking, how could you stop him? And if the government could do that, would you want to live here? And why are you looking to blame somebody other than the killer, anyway?

I think I see where you are coming from...(although many of the people answering may have been confused by your wording)...how's this for a re-phrase: "Why isn't the government taking care of the terrorists inside our OWN country first, rather than focusing on the same thing, but in a country we are NOT in chanrge of?!" We have our own terrorists right here at home, whether people want to beleive it or not...today's tragedy is a prime example. I agree that we need to focus on the problems "in house" before we try to "fix" or "solve" the problems of another country..we have enough to worry about here.

The government CANNOT stop every crazy person who goes on a shooting spree! Please, this is America's problem, they want to blame the government for everything. The only one at fault for this tragedy is the GUNMAN! Being an American doesn't mean that nothing bad should or could happen to you. That's life, neither the government or anybody else cannot stop all tragedies!

That is what the police are for. When the government gets the Army involved it often just escalates the situation.

Because America doesn't have soldiers patrolling college campuses "just in case" something happens. That's not their job.
