first of all i don't think the terrorists hate americans .. i think they hate american policies and the american government. not the people. there is a HUGE difference.
american government, secret intelligencies (CIA) etc. have been involved in numerous amounts of operations in other countries, sticking their noses in where they don't belong, all on the pretext that they are offering humanitary aid. yeah sure they do that, but they also have other agendas.... hmm... like toppling governments that don't see eye to eye with them.
american government also supports israel by giving them american tax-payer money ... and military weapons, and industrial machines that are used to demolish the homes of palestinians.
it has nothing to do with way of life and freedoms .. but everything to do with being two-faced, having double standards and agendas, lying to the masses, etc. etc. etc. -- too many to list.
my proposal is this, if the american govt never made any bases in saudi .. or kuwait .. or anywhere in the middle east ... do u think the 'terrorists' al qaida or anyone else would be out to kill the 'american infidels' ???? NOPE ...
and if england and the UN never allowed the jews to come to Palestine ... there would be NO 'suicide bombings' over there either .... so the actions are all reactionary .... they were caused by an external catalyst .... whether or not they are reacting in a sane way or not .. is not for me to decide .. they are in their situations .. and nobody can judge them unless they are in their shoes. -- when a father sees his home demolished , his baby with bullets in her body ... or his wife or daughter being murdered or raped .... obviously he'll go crazy ... and violence begets violence ...... so he'll react .. the only way he knows how.
its not a religious problem .. its a social problem .. a political one.

Well, just look at the evidence
Al-qaida flew airlines into the World Trade Center (a symbol of wealth), and the Pentagon (a symbol of power). They attacked American wealth and power. If they hated freedom, they would have flown planes into the Statue of Liberty or something.
As I recall, a couple of weeks later someone sent anthrax to some newspaper offices (representing freedom of the press) and some democratic senator's offices (representing democracy). Now, I think it's fair to say that whoever sent the anthrax hates freedom and democracy.
You're right tho - but understand that most Americans are completely blind to the consequence of our foreign policy especially supporting dictatorships as long as they're "on our side," or how many innocent people are murdered by the dictators we support. They just like to watch T.V. which usually follows the government line, gives a biased point of view and tells us we're going into other countries to help the people which makes us feel good. There's hardly any foreign conflict for which T.V. reports are more biased that the conflict in Palestine, but on the other hand, hundreds of thousands of people are killed by regimes we support and it never gets reported at all.

Well it's because when christopher columbus discovered the americas he would kill so many innocent people forcing them into a new religion. So the problem kept going on into the middle east. Middle eastern people got killed and forced into catholicism. So the middle east wants revenge because of what had happened centuries ago. We killed their people so they wanna kill us. Then the united states has control of jerusalem. Jerusalem used to belong to the middle east. But then got taken over by the U.S. and jews. So the middle east wants jerusalem back but the U.S. Won't give it back. The problem comes a bit from religion, social, and political.

Dude you have some serious problems. The terriost dont believe in free speech, free press, and a bunch of stuff we have because it can be used against them if they allowed it. I am pretty sure if there was free speech in terriost countries people wont know what was really happening around them. Look at Bin Laden. Desert Storm when we drove out another country and when we left, Bin Laden said that HE sent America away. People believe it cause no one can say NO thats not true.
Terrorist dont all these freedoms for their people because they loose they grip on their people if they did.

What difference does it make why they hate us? They don't hate ME or YOU personally, they hate America and everything about it. I have empathy and sympathy for the people of these nations in general, but you will never catch ME defending terrorists. Actually, what IS your question?

I agree 100%. Nobody here wants to look at it from anybodies stand point except our own. We are the terrorists in their eyes.
PS The English screwed up every place they ever walked away from by not understanding the different tribal boundaries. They drew borders where they thought they should go, not where they were.
